While crimes are becoming increasingly intelligent and specialized these days, the supply of high-tech equipment and high-performance photocopiers has caused constant growth and confusion in the financial and economic markets. In particular, counterfeit money crimes are also on the rise in official statistics, and it is estimated that about 20 times more of the counterfeit money caught by many criminologist and related industries are circulating in the market. Therefore, we will look at the definition of counterfeit money crime, related laws, the nature of the crime, and the current status of based on official statistics, and make policy suggestions to prevent counterfeit money crimes. First, the government should actively train experts in the exchange of information sharing with national agencies and private institutions, and second, financial institutions own counterfeit money detection through various media reporting(reward) systems and promotion, and the principle of burden on beneficiaries.

오늘날 각종 범죄가 점차 지능화되고, 전문화되어 가고 있는 가운데 위조통화범죄는 최첨단 장비와 고 성능 복사기기 등의 보급으로 지속적인 증가와 금융경제시장에도 혼란을 가져온다. 특히, 위조통화범죄 는 공식통계상에서도 증가추세를 보이고 있으며, 많은 범죄학자나 관련업계에서도 적발된 위조통화의 약 20배가 시중에서 유통되고 있는 것으로 추정하고 있다. 이에 위조통화범죄의 정의와 관련법령, 범죄특성, 공식통계자료를 기초로 한 발생현황 등을 살펴보고, 위조통화범죄의 예방을 위한 정책적 제언을 하고자 한다. 첫째, 국가기관 및 민간기관과의 정보공유, 둘 째, 다양한 매체를 통한 신고(포상)제도와 홍보, 셋째, 수익자 부담의 원칙에 의한 금융기관의 자체 위조 통화감식 전문가를 적극 양성하여 운영되어야 한다.
