This paper deals with the historical documents compiled by the Director (J. Kanshu) of the Waegwan Japan House, which were called the Daily Records of the Manager of the Japan House (J. Kanshu Mainikki). The Daily Records extend from the ninth lunar month of 1687 to the tenth leap month of 1870 in the lunar calendar. This paper also introduces the outline and the method of using these documents, which are preserved in the National Diet Library of Japan. Different aspects of the diplomacy and the trade between Japanese and the Korean government are included in the Daily Records of the Manager of the Japan House. Thus, it is possible to analyze variously the Korean-Japanese relations in the late Joseon period by using these documents. In short, it is necessary for researchers to access and analyze the Daily Records of the Manager of the Japan House in reviewing Korean-Japanese relations in the transition period from the premodern to the modern age.

1687년 9월부터 1870년 윤 10월까지 왜관(倭館)의 일본인 관리자인 관수(館守)가 작성한 일지(日誌)를 가리켜 『관수일기』라 부른다. 이 글에서는 일본 국립국회도서관에 소장된『관수일기』의 개요와 그것을 이용하는 방법에 대해서 소개하였다. 『관수일기』는 조선과 일본의 외교와 무역이 이루어지는 현장의 다양한 모습을 담고 있다. 따라서 『관수일기』를 활용한다면 조선 후기 한일관계사의 다양한 측면을 입체적으로 분석할 수 있다. 요컨대 근세에서 근대로 전환하는 시기의 한일관계사를 재조명하기 위해서는 『관수일기』에 대한 다양한 접근과 분석이 필요하다.
