The purpose of this study is to examine problems of Pungryudo or Pungwoldo described in a high school textbook titled “Ethics and Thoughts” and to suggest a method of improvement. Pungryudo (or Pungwoldo) is a unique ideology of our ethnic group that existed even before Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism were introduced. However, the description of Pungryudo in this ethics textbook can create misconception in students. It would be necessary to review details of Pungryudo in the education curriculum revised in 2015. With an intent to improve the description of Pungryudo in the textbook, this study aims to discuss the three points below. First is to examine how Pungryudo has been described by “Ethics and Thoughts” within the new education curriculum in the past 10 years. Second is to conduct a questionnaire on students about the description of Pungryudo in “Ethics and Thoughts.” The questionnaire asks questions to find the way in which students understand the description of Pungryudo in the textbook. Third is to approach the true nature of Pungryudo based on classical and original texts. Pungryudo is an original ideology of Korea unaffected by China and the West. Textbooks cannot describe this ideology as thoroughly as Confucianism and Buddhism due to the lack of literature data available nowadays. However, efforts must be placed to accurately understand and describe the true nature of Pungryudo.

본 연구의 목적은 고등학교『윤리와 사상』교과서에 서술된 풍류도(風流道) 혹은 풍월도(風月道)의 문제점을 살펴보고 그 개선 방안을 연구해 보고자 한 것이다. 풍류도(=풍월도)는 유교, 불교, 도가․도교가 우리나라에 들어오기전부터 있었던 우리 민족의 고유 사상이다. 하지만 윤리 교과서에 서술된 풍류도에 관한 내용은 학생들에게 오개념을 심어줄 여지가 있어보인다. 2015년 개정 교육과정이 적용되고 있는 이 시점에서 풍류도의관한 내용을 다시 검토할 필요가 있다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 다음 세가지의 논점을 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다. 첫째, 지난 10년간 새로운 교육과정 속에서 고등학교『윤리와 사상』 교과서에 풍류도가 어떻게 서술되었는지를 살펴보았다. 둘째,『윤리와 사상』에 서술된 풍류도의 내용을 바탕으로 학생들에게설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사 내용은 교과서에 서술된 풍류도의 서술 내용을 학생들이 어떻게 이해하고 있는가이다. 셋째, 현재 전해지고 있는 고전(古典)과 원전(原典)을 통해 풍류도의실체를 다시 접근해 보았다. 풍류도는 중국이나 서양의 어디에도 영향을 받지 않고 우리나라에서자생한 사상이다. 현재 전해지는 문헌 자료의 부족으로 유교나 불교처럼 교과서에 깊이 있게 서술될 수는 없을 것이다. 하지만 풍류도의 실체는 정확하게 이해되고 서술되어야 하겠다.
