Korea could be categorized as a diasporic nation since there are various modes of statelessness in one ethnic group. As one of the ethnocentric country, Korea's diaspora has layers of conflicts and social turbulence. This research explored Korean diaspora by analyzing two films featuring North Korean (t'albukchas) defectors and Korean-Chinese (Chosŏnjoks). The Journals of Musan and Dooman River are read closely in terms of semantic narratives, symbols, and spacial camera movements. This study will be looking at the narrative and aesthetics of these two films and how it purports the notion of lost identity and the almost stagnant reality (not able to transform or move into a new reality or culture) of diasporic population.

한국사회는 하나의 민족사회 내에서 다양한 형태의 디아스포라가 존재하는 사회이다. 단일민족으로 취급되는 국가인 한국은 디아스포라로 인하여 많은 층의 갈등과 사회적 격동이 발생하고 있다. 이 논문은 영화 두만강 (2011)과 무산일기 (2010) 속의 다양한 내레이션의 의미, 상징, 카메라 등을 분석하여 한국사회의 디아스포라 형태 중 탈북민들과 조선족들의 아이덴티티의 부재와 어디에도 나아가지 못하는 침체되어 있는 현실의 모습을 살펴본다. 따라서 두 영화 모두 디아스포라 민족으로서 겪는 삶의 힘듦을 보여주는 것에서 더 나아가서 그 현실 속에서 생성될 기회도 없어져버린 아이덴티티와 고여 있는 모습으로만 존재하게 되어버린 디아스포라에 관하여 두 영화가 그려내고 있음을 이 논문에서 다루고 있다.
