- This thesis have come up with various research results by interviewing police officers of the City of Seoul under the circumstances that there has been no positive and analytical studies on the areas that the UIT could apply to or the possibility of utilizing the UIT. According to the analysis of possibility of introduction of the UIT, the first part of the research results, most of police officers are well aware of the UIT as the recognition rate on the term of 'Ubiquitous' records 81.8%. But 63.1% of them answered negatively on the question about organizational assistance on the UIT. Finally, 62.7% thought positively on the commercialization of the UIT and believed the police service using the UIT will be commonly provided within five years. The results of analysis on the police service that the UIT can be applicable run as follows. First, most promising area that the UIT can be introduced is found to be crime prevention. Second, the effects of the introduction of the UIT were readiness, efficiency and convenience in order. Finally, they answered infringement on private information will get worse as the introduction of the UIT and thought that the police service utilizing the UIT needs cooperation of the related agencies except endeavors of the police agency.

- 정보기술 패러다임이 변화함에 따라 경찰활동 또한 변화가 이뤄질 것으로 예상되고 있다. 특히 이러한 정보기술을 도입하여 경찰서비스를 실시할 경찰공무원이 유비쿼터스 정보기술(UIT)에 대해 어떠한 인식을 갖고 있는지는 매우 중요하다고 하겠다. 경찰공무원들의 현장 인터뷰 조사를 통하여 유비쿼터스 기술을 이용한 경찰서비스(Police Service) 인식과 도입가능성 분야를 탐색하였다. 분석내용은 크게 2부분으로 구분되며 첫째, 유비쿼터스 정보기술(UIT)의 도입가능성과 둘째 유비쿼터스 정보기술(UIT)의 적용한 경찰서비스(Police Service)를 분석하였다. 그러나 경찰서비스(Police Service)에 대한 유비쿼터스 기술의 도입여부는 무엇보다 어떠한 서비스를 제공하느냐보다 오히려 그러한 서비스 제공에 있어 발생할 수 있는 문제, 개인정보보호를 얼마만큼 보호하느냐와 달려있다고 하겠다. 특히 프라이버시 보호 문제에 대한 시민 및 대상자의 저항이 최대걸림돌이 될 수 있다는 점을 반드시 고려하여 추진되어야 할 것이다.
