- One of the most relevant themes of Roberto Bolaño’s Distant Star is the symbiotic and interdependent relationship between art and politics. The writer tries to point out, through a fictional fascist poet as a symbolic figure of art that loses the possibility of creating his own truth, not only the risk of the totalitarian regime but also that of avant-garde art united with it. He also shows that the political and artistic passion for create a new order has, as its primary condition, the destructive depuration against the dominant order. In this sense, the novel can be read from the discursive perspective of Alain Badiou as a reflection of the modern world plagued with the passion for the real and the depuration over the last century.

- Uno de los temas más relevantes de Estrella distante de Roberto Bolaño es la relación simbiótica e interdependiente entre el arte y la política. El escritor chileno trata de advertir, mediante la configuración de un poeta fascista ficcional, una figura simbólica del arte que pierde la posibilidad de crear su propia verdad, el peligro no sólo del régimen totalitario sino también del arte unido a éste. Muestra que la pasión de crear un nuevo orden tiene, como su condición primaria, la depuración destructiva contra el orden establecido. En este sentido, desde la perspectiva discursiva de Alain Badiou, se puede considerar la novela como una reflexión del mundo moderno arrebatado por la pasión de lo real y la depuración a lo largo del siglo pasado.
