The purpose of this journal is to analyze and discover the conditions the positive politeness is realized and the way it is expressed in Japanese and Korean dramas. The positive politeness strategies were realized under the following three conditions: When a speaker wants to be close to hearer, when he/she wants to persuade a close friend to achieve a certain goal, or when he/she wants to force a close relationship to pursue a profit although he/she is not close enough to hearer. The similarities between the Japanese and Korean dramas were that the positive politeness strategies in which arguing the common ground of the two people were widely used overall. For example, using address forms that emphasize the closeness of the relationship, showing interest, or showing cooperative attitude. In particular, using a specific addressing form to show comradeship was one of the most frequently used strategy in both Japan and Korea. However, the difference lied in the fact that the positive politeness strategy to emphasize the cooperative relationship was more frequent the one that satisfies the want of hearer in Japanese. Two the positive strategies are were not frequent in Korean.
