This paper presents the results of a questionnaire survey of undergraduates enrolled in Japanese-related courses at University A to determine their needs in terms of their major course curriculums. These needs involve five attributes: 1) Practicality (currentness): practical and trendy instructional contents applicable to the real world and help them understand Japan; 2) Diversity: offering a wide range of course units with diversified media and instructional methods; 3) Specialty(specificity): tertiary instructional contents that help equip students with specialty and specificity, 4) Differentiation: differentiated instructional contents and methods in each course, and 5) Connectedness: the instructional contents and their level of difficulty are adjusted and connected among course units per semester and year. The findings as to the satisfaction and needs of learners from University A are expected to facilitate the arrangement and offering of major new course units. In addition, increasing the number of major courses is not guaranteed to improve curriculums. Rather, the instructional contents, media, and methods of existing course units should be improved and their quality reinforced in view of learners’ needs.

본고에서는 A대학의 일본어 관련 학과 전공 학생들을 대상으로 전공 커리큘럼에 대한 니즈를 앙케트 조사를 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 학생들의 전공 커리큘럼에 대한 니즈를 5가지로 정리하고 그 시사점을 제시할 수 있었다. 1)실용성(최신성) : 실생활에서 활용가능하며 현재의 일본을 이해할 수 있는 실용적이며　트랜디한 교육내용, 2)다양성 : 각 분야별 다양한 과목의 개설 및 다양한 매체와 수업방식, 3)전문성(구체성) : 대학에서만 배울 수 있는 전문성과 구체성이 있는 교육 내용, 4)차별성 : 각 과목별 차별화된 교육내용과 수업방식, 5)연계성 : 각 학기별, 학년별 과목간의 교육내용 및 난이도의 조정과 연계이와 같은 A대학 일본어 관련 전공 커리큘럼에 대한 학습자들의 니즈는 새로운 전공 과목을 개설하고 실행하는데 활용 가능할 것이다. 또한, 전공과목을 늘리는 것만으로 커리큘럼의 개선이 이루어지는 것이 아니라 기존 과목들의 교육내용과 매체, 교수법 등을 개선하고 내실화하는데 학습자들의 니즈를 반영하고 활용하는 것이 더욱 필요할 것으로 사료된다.
