This paper discusses three groups of educational methods, that is, Sara Little and Richard Osmer, Maria Harris and Elizabeth Moore, and Thomas Groome, reviewing their different thoughts about teaching and its relation to the content. For each group, Little and Osmer approach with more cognitive perspective in teaching, Harris and Moore in a holistic way, and Groome emphasizes the importance of praxis in education.In teaching or education, the purpose of teaching guides its content and methods influencing the teacher’s attitude. As Groome claims, if human freedom is another immediate purpose of Christian religious education, and human freedom is an unavoidable outcome when we have lived Christian faith responding to the Kingdom of God, the most faithful way to live in the Kingdom is to make our Christian tradition available to free us by critically adopting the tradition in our context and history. The attempt to interrelate educational methods and content helps educators view education as a whole picture not as a part of other disciplines, which will lead to critical engagement of context and tradition in Christian education.

이 논문은 교육적 방법을 이해하기 위해서 대표적인 학자들을 세 그룹, 즉 사라 리틀과 리차드 오스머, 마리아 해리스와 엘리자베스 무어, 그리고 토마스 그룹으로 나누어서 분석한다. 첫 번째 그룹은 교육에 있어서 보다 인식론적 접근을 하고, 둘째 그룹은 전인적 방법을 말하고, 세 번째 토마스 그룸은 교육에서 프락시스의 중요성을 강조한다. 교육에 있어서 가르침의 목적은 가르치는 내용과 그에 따른 방법을 인도하며 교사의 자세를 결정한다. 토마스 그룸이 말했듯이 인간의 자유가 기독교 종교 교육의 목표라면, 그리고 그 목표가 하나님 나라의 부름에 응답하는 믿음에 따라 살면서 자연스럽게 이루어진다고 하면, 그 부름에 가장 신실하게 사는 방법은 우리의 기독교 전통을 우리의 현장과 역사에 비판적으로 적용하며 사는 것이다. 교육 방법과 내용을 깊이 연관시키려는 시도는 교육가들로 하여금 교육을 총체적으로 볼 수 있도록 한다. 그리고 그 결과로 기독교 종교 교육에 있어서 현재 우리의 삶과 기독교 전통의 연대성을 갖게 할 것이다.
