The aim of this study is to review researches into the grammar of Korean textbooks published in the time of enlightenment in Korea (1890∼1910), and to present research prospects on it. First, researches on styles of writing and changes of it were reviewed. As a result, we pointed that the classification of style of writing and the development of it should be researched more precisely. Secondly, researches on some grammatical issues were reviewed. A a result, we emphasized the necessity of the precise researches on the each grade of hearer honorific system, the development of sentence final ending, and quotative constructions.

본고는 개화기 교과서, 그 중에서도 국어교과서를 중심으로 이들 자료에 나타난 문법의 연구 성과를 살펴보았다. 먼저 문체에 대한 연구 성과는 문체 유형에 대한 연구와 서사문의 종결형 변화에 대한 연구로 나누어 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 문체 유형의 분류 기준 및 발달 과정이 좀 더 논의되어야 하며, 서사문의 종결형 변화는 당시의 문체 혁신뿐만 아니라 언어 변화를 반영한 현상임을 확인하였다. 문법에 대한 연구 성과는 청자높임법 체계에 대한 연구, 종결어미에 대한 연구, 인용 구문에 대한 연구로 나누어 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 청자높임법 체계의 사용맥락을 중시하여 연구되어야 하며 하소서체의 설정에 대한 재고가 필요함을 지적하였다. 또한 몇몇 종결어미들과 인용 구문의 유형 및 변화 과정에 대한 연구가 좀 더 세밀하게 보완될 필요가 있음을 지적하였다.
