Currently, there are 16 exhibition & convention centers in Korea, and it is time to have a global exhibition & convention center to hold a lead in global competition. Therefore, this study is intended to analyze the standards of extending the existing convention centers, to draw implications and to present the direction of the standards of extending global exhibition & convention centers. For the goal of the study, 33 experts in the exhibition․convention field conducted research and analyzed the result. The result showed that the standards of global exhibition & convention centers include various elements such as competitiveness of exhibition center dimension compared to competing countries, shopping, accessibility of inside and outside, local opinion, continuity of events and interior․exterior design, in addition to the standards of extending the existing center. This study provides a basic resource for globalization of domestic exhibition & convention centers based on the above result.

현재 국내 16개 전시컨벤션센터가 운영되고 있는 가운데 이제 국내 전시컨벤션센터도 글로벌 경쟁에서 우위를 점할 수 있는 글로벌 전시컨벤션센터가 필요한 시점이다. 이에 본 연구는 기존 전시장 증축 심의기준을 분석하여 이에 따른 시사점을 도출하고, 글로벌 전시컨벤션센터 증축 심의기준에 대한 방향성을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 33명의 전시․컨벤션 분야 전문가 조사를 실시하여 결과를 분석하였다. 분석결과 글로벌 전시컨벤션센터를 위한 심의기준에는 기존 전시장 증축 심의기준 외에 경쟁국 전시장 대비 전시장 규모 경쟁력, 쇼핑, 내․외부 접근성, 지역여론, 행사의 지속성, 전시장 내․외부 디자인 등 다양한 요소들이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 본 연구는 국내 전시컨벤션센터의 글로벌화를 위한 기초자료를 제공하였다.
