“Era of Trilemma” would be the apt way of depicting the current society simultaneously beleaguered by the burdens of economic, environmental, and social (ecological) conflicts. Never being independent of other forms of conflicts, each of the problems is significantly convoluted enough to let the specialists from diverse fields to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations and scrutinize the remedial ideology of “Sustainable Development”. Thus, scientists and the engineers concerned in sustainability have focused on developing sustainable energy sources and technologies, seeking to reach the triangular equilibrium. Based on current technologies, this thesis examines the diverse ways to achieve Sustainable Development and proposes the suitable model for Korea energy industry to adapt the ideology.
