This paper attempts to find a new way of interpreting the logical problem of evil based on the perspective of the Divine Principle. To do so, it firstly deals with some core issues in the logical debates between Mackie and Plantinga who represent atheism and theism, respectively. Their arguments tend to draw unnegotiable parallel lines because they have different assumptions on the concepts of divine omnipotence and free will. Acknowledging such a limitation derived from any logical approaches, this paper provides an inclusive viewpoint that is able to refute and at the same time accept Mackie and Plantinga’s perspectives by penetrating the theological implications of Divine Principle, especially regarding the difference of the concept of free will between the realms of indirect and direct dominions, the three reasons God did not intervene in the Fall, and the continuity of the growing process of the human being through love.

본 논문은 ‘논리적 악의 문제(the logical problem of evil)’를 둘러싼 유신론과 무신 론 측의 공방을 세계평화통일가정연합의 원리강론의 시각에서 해석하고 그 쟁점을 포괄하여 새로운 방향을 제시하는데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 무신론 관점의 맥키와 유 신론 관점의 플란팅가의 논의는 신의 전능함과 자유 개념에 대한 전제 자체가 다르 기 때문에 서로 타협할 수 없는 평행선을 그린다. 전제의 차이에 따른 논리적 접근의 한계를 감안하더라도, 본 연구는 원리강론에 담긴 신학적 함의들, 특히 간접주관권 과 직접주관권에서의 자유의 차이, 하나님이 인간의 타락행위에 간섭하지 않으신 세 가지 이유에 대한 심층적 분석, 그리고 사랑을 통한 성장과정의 연속성에 대한 논의 등을 통해 맥키와 플란팅가의 논점을 반박하는 동시에 그들의 주장을 선별적으로 수용하고 설명할 수 있는 포괄적 틀을 제공한다.
