In this paper, I discussed Shiina Rinzo’s Denunciation of a prisoner. This study approaches the real argument of the author, by considering the influence of Soren Kierkegaard on the theme of this work and the inner transformation of the hero, which have not been discussed enough on preceding studies. Kierkegarrd argues that “salvation” in “Christianity” is in “living like a dead”. That argument inspires Rinzo, finally that became main theme in this work. The author depicts the process of changing the hero’s attitude towards “life” through a young man who starts from deep “desperation” and should be called a pre-Christian. So, this work conveys the christian gospel of “salvation” as “resurrection”, as “living like a dead”, the process of overcoming “emptiness” from “death”. Now, to reach the revelation of “resurrection” for the hero in Christianity, at first, it is essential to sympathize with God. To cry out for God desperately, the author let the hero see the cruel and shocking case that someone rapes and murders a little girl of 12 years old. Indeed, the place where the hero cry out for God is a toilet. These advances of the plot are also the influence of Kierkegaard's arguments, “Only the man who is quaked in his essence can enter into the relationship with God”, “The closest they can get to God is when they are farthest from God.”
