Yong Sung opened the Daegakyo chapel and the Daegakyo farm in Manchuria, which was the main stage of the independence movement in Korea in the 1920s. The novel “Wongakchon” of An soo-gil is based on the Daegakyo farm of Manchuria. Through this, Yong Sung purchased the vast forests and land of 1.2 million pyeong in Yongsan-dong, 12km north of Yuncheullaz (瓮声砬子). He dreamed of constructing an ideal village for Korean farmers with 100 households. The Daegakyo farm offered unprecedented conditions to the Korean farmers for five years, such as exemption from the rent and support for housing construction. To provide economic and mental stability to Manchurian Korean peasants and to create an independence movement base. In the summer, farming and livestock, and in winter, charcoal was made and sold to support economic independence and independence movement funds. Domestic application and extension of Manchurian Daegakyo farm management can be said to be the operation of the Hwagwawon. Here, he managed an orchard and ran a temple. It was a self-sufficient farm, monastic spot for monks, and a school for poor children in the region. It was considered as a resting area for himself to spend the remainder of his life. At the same time, he established new farming area through a producers’ cooperative and a consumers’ cooperative, and he made a chapel and placed evangelists to support Korean peasants’ religious life. This was a place of movement for enlightenment of farmers based on the religion and dreamed of an ideal village. At the Daegakyo farm in Manchuria and Hwagwawon of Hamyang, fund support of independence movement in Korea for Korean provisional government might have been delivered through various routes. However, it is the actual state that we have to rely on the testimony due to the lack of data that can’t prove this, and it is also a difficult job. Kimkoo Party’s visit of Daegaksa Temple on December 12th, 1945, which was 20 days after returning of the Korean provisional government, represents a great deal.

용성은 1920년대 한국독립운동의 주요 활동무대였던 만주에 대각교당(大覺敎堂)과 대각교 농장을 개설하였다. 안수길의 소설 ｢원각촌｣은 만주의 대각교 농장을 배경으로 하고 있다. 이를 통해 용성은 운츨라즈(瓮声砬子)에서 12km 북쪽 용산동에 120만평의 광대한 산림과 토지를 구입하여 대각교 농장을 경영하였음 알 수 있다. 100호에 이르는 한국인 농민들의 이상촌 건설을 꿈꾸었다. 대각교 농장은 가난한 조선인 농민들에게 토지를 개간한 5년 동안 소작료 면제, 주택 건축비 50원 지원 및 목재 제공, 세 집에 소 한 마리씩을 제공하는 파격적 조건이었다. 소작료도 저렴하게 하여 3.7제(농장 3, 소작인 7)로 만주의 한국인 농민들에게 경제적, 정신적 안정을 제공하고, 독립운동 거점을 만들려는 것이었다. 여름에는 농사와 목축, 겨울에는 숯을 만들어 팔아 경제적 자립과 독립운동 자금을 지원하고자 하였다. 만주 대각교 농장 경영의 국내적 응용과 연장이 함양 화과원의 운영이라 할 수 있다. 이곳에서 과수원을 경영하고 선원(禪院)을 운영하였다. 자급자족적 농장이요 승려들의 수도처이자 지역의 가난한 아이들을 위한 교육장이었다. 용성 자신의 휴식처이자 여생을 보낼 안식처로 인식하고 있었다. 동시에 생산조합과 소비조합을 통한 새로운 농촌을 건설하고 교당을 만들어 순회 포교사를 배치하여 소작인들의 신앙생활을 지원하고자 하였다. 이는 종교를 기반한 농촌계몽 운동의 공간이자 이상촌을 꿈꾸었다고 할 수 있다. 만주의 대각교 농장과 함양의 화과원에서 대한민국 임시정부에 독립운동 자금 지원은 다양한 루트를 통해 전달되었을 가능성이 있다. 그러나 이를 증명할 수 있는 자료의 부족으로 증언에 의존할 수밖에 없는 실정이지만 이 또한 어려운 작업이다. 다만 대한민국 임시정부의 환국 이후 20일 만인 1945년 12월 12일 김구 일행의 대각사 방문이 상징하는 바가 크다고 하겠다.
