The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends of principal leadership in Korea. The researchers chose and analyzed the 88 principal leadership articles which were published in major journals in Korea during recent 8 years(2010-2017) by leadership style, research topic, research method and level of school. Findings of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) A variety of leadership styles have been studied, among which the transformational leadership was the most frequently addressed in the principal leadership research; 2) In terms of research topics, ’the effectiveness of leadership was the theme to which were paid the most attention, and ‘the exploration of leadership theory and concept’ and ‘leadership behavior analysis’ also received keen interests by researchers; 3) In the research method, the quantitative research method was used in many cases; 4) In terms of school types and level of school, the largest number of studies were conducted at elementary school level. This study shows that the majority of principal leadership research in Korea were highly weighted toward the effectiveness study of transformational leadership at primary level using quantitative methods, thus suggests that the leadership issues of more diverse and sensitive to educational context should be addressed in the future.

이 연구는 국내 학교장 리더십 연구경향을 파악하기 위하여 2010년부터 2017년까지 8년간 국내 주요학술지에 게재된 학교장 리더십 관련 논문 88편을 선정하여 리더십 유형, 연구주제, 연구방법, 학교급의 준거에 따라 분석하였다. 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학교장 리더십 유형은 매우 다양하게 나타났는데 변혁적 리더십이 가장 많이 연구되었고 그 다음으로는 교장 리더십, 수업 리더십 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교장 리더십 연구주제는 리더십 효과 분석이 가장 많이 연구되었고 그 다음으로는 리더십 이론 및 개념 탐색, 리더십 행동특성 분석으로 순으로 연구되었다. 셋째, 학교장 리더십 연구방법은 양적연구 방법이 절대 다수를 차지할 만큼 많이 활용되었다. 넷째, 학교장 리더십의 학교급에 따른 연구는 초등학교에서 가장 많은 연구가 이루어 졌다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 국내 학교장 연구경향을 확인하고 시사점점을 제시하였다.
