In this global era, humans and capital are crossing the border between countries freely. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of community satisfaction on consciousness of social integration in multicultural society with four gun located in the rural area of Chungbuk. Focusing on the mediating effect of self-esteem that tends to be very personal, this author will suggest political implications about consciousness of social integration in multicultural society based on the results drawn. 452 questionnaire sheets were distributed to the subjects in those four gun of the farm area and then collected for analysis. According to the results, first, regarding socio-demographic characteristics, if the subjects’ education level is higher and have a spouse, consciousness of social integration in multicultural society is higher as well. Second, if their community satisfaction is higher, consciousness of social integration in multicultural society gets higher, too. Third, when community satisfaction influences consciousness of social integration in multicultural society, self-esteem works as a mediator. Based on the results, this researcher gives political implications as follows. First, one should be equipped with the attitude and willingness to accept multicultural society. Second, it is needed to reinforce participative experience and education associated with multiculture. Third, to realize multicultural society and social integration, one should raise their pride as a cultural citizen.

세계 각국은 글로벌 시대를 살면서 자본과 사람이 국경을 초월하여 넘나들고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 충북의 농촌지역 4개 군을 대상으로 지역사회만족도가 다문화사회의 사회통합의식 영향요인을 연구하여, 개인적인 성향이 강한 자아존중감의 매개효과를 중심으로 고찰한 연구결과를 토대로, 다문화사회의 사회통합의식에 관한 실천적 제언을 하는 것이다. 조사대상은 농촌지역 4개 군에 452부를 회수하여 분석하였다. 조사결과 첫째, 조사대상자들의 인구사회학적 특성 중 교육수준이 높을수록, 배우자가 있을수록 다문화사회의 사회통합의식이 높다. 둘째, 지역사회만족도가 높을수록 다문화사회의 사회통합의식이 높다. 셋째, 지역사회만족도가 다문화사회의 사회통합의식에 영향을 미칠 때 자아존중감은 매개 작용한다. 조사결과를 바탕으로 실천적 제언으로는 첫째, 다문화사회를 수용하려는 자세․의지가 있어야 한다. 둘째, 다문화와 관련된참여경험과 교육의 강화이다. 셋째, 다문화사회와 사회통합을 이루기 위해 문화시민으로서 자긍심을 고취시켜야 한다.
