The purpose of this study is to investigate elementary school students’ the perception about the aims of hands-on practice in home life area of Practical Arts. For the purpose, this study analyzed the degree of perception on the aims of hands-on practice and significant variables that influence in perception on the aims of hands-on practice. The objects of study were 312 5th grade and 6th grade students of 5 elementary schools in Chungbuk province. The following results were obtained: First, elementary school students highly recognized the external value and highly recognized the relationship ability to relate to the sense of community for the aims of hands-on practice. Second, gender was not a significant variable affecting the perception about the aims of hands-on practice of elementary school students. Third, the fifth grade was highly regarded in terms of the value factors and curriculum competency in practical arts, rather than the sixth grade. The results of a poorly conducted sixth grade experience indicate the need to identify the cause of the result by observation and interviews. Fourth, students with more than middle level records showed higher recognition for the aims of hands-on practice than those with lower grades.

본 연구는 가정생활 영역의 실습 목적에 대한 인식을 가치 요인과 교과역량 요인 측면에서 분석함으로써 실습 수업설계를 위한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 위하여 실습 목적에 대한 인식 정도를 살펴보고, 실습 목적에 영향을 미치는 변인을 분석하였다. 연구 대상은 충북지역 소재 5개 초등학교의 5학년과 6학년 312명이었고, 자료의 분석을 위해서는 기술통계, 독립표본 t-검정, 일원배치 분산분석을 실행하였다. 첫째, 초등학생은 실과 가정생활 영역의 실습 목적으로 유용성 측면의 외적 가치를 높게 인식하였고, 공동체 의식에 관련된 관계형성능력을 높게 인식하였다. 둘째, 성별은 초등학생의 실습 목적에 대한 인식에 영향을 미치는 유의미한 변수가 아니었다. 성별에 관계없이 실천적문제해결능력에는 다른 역량에 비해 낮은 점수를 보였다. 셋째, 5학년은 6학년보다 실습 목적의 가치 요인과 교과역량 요인에서 높은 인식을 보였다. 실습 경험이 많은 6학년의 인식이 낮게 나타난 결과는 관찰 및 면담에 의한 원인 규명의 필요성을 시사한다. 넷째, 학업 성적이 중위권 이상인 학생은 하위권 학생보다 실습 목적에 대한 높은 인식을 보였다. 이는 성적이 낮은 학생들을 위한 실습 수업 프로그램이나 교수학습자료 개발의 필요성을 시사한다.
