This study examines the kinship relationship between the local Yangban of the late Chosun dynasty from the perspective of 'network structure', using the example of kinship of Haenam Yun Yihoo. Previously, the studies on local Yangban mainly focused on their roles as dominant power in given communities and aggregation as descent groups. In this study, I paid attention to the family network beyond this range. Yun Yihoo and his family were not only aggregated as a paternal blood group, but also strengthened the kinship relationship with different family name groups. The family network widely distributed around the whole nation contributed to the strengthening of social status and prestiges of Yun Yihoo’s family. Furthermore, this was linked with the network of the power elite of the central politics and immensely helped them to solidify their social status at the national level. Such network of Yangban was interlinked on the wider level and could make strong impacts on the dominance and management of the whole society.

본 연구는 해남윤씨 윤이후 친족의 사례를 활용하여 조선후기 지방거주 양반의 친족관계를 ‘연결망’적 구조라는 관점에서 검토한 것이다. 종래 지방 양반에 대해서는 향촌 지배집단으로서의 측면이나 문중 집단으로의 결속의 측면이 주요 관심이었다. 본 연구에서는 이 같은 범위를 벗어나는 친족적 연결망에 주목하였다. 윤이후와 그의 가계는 선대부터 해남윤씨 문중이라는 부계혈연집단으로 결집해 갔을 뿐만 아니라 혼인을 매개로 한 비동성친(非同姓親)의 친족관계도 공고히 해 가고 있었다. 전국적으로 분포하는 친족의 연결망은 윤이후 일족의 사회적 지위와 위세에 중요한 자원으로 작용하였다. 또한 이것은 중앙정치의 지배엘리트와의 연결망으로도 이어져 사회적 지위의 확보에 큰 도움을 주었다. 양반들의 이 같은 연결망은 더 큰 범위에서 서로서로 연결되어 전체사회의 지배와 운영에 큰 영향을 미쳤을 것이라고 생각된다.
