Soseki wrote his miserable lonely life as if he were an orphan when he was adopted. He did not know his parents until 9years old nor could not live with his family. He has grown as adopted son being isolated himself from his family. He has never experienced parents love, mother’s love and he could not have attachment for person as child. He has grown having anxiety and conflict changing his adopting family two times. Even after returning his home he was not loved by his parents and he felt loneliness even in his family. We can guess that he became to doubt his birth, and his parents. He may wonder whether they are real his parents or not. We can see that his spiritual symptoms is caused by trauma having been experienced in his childhood.

漱石のトラウマは幼少期に親を知ることなく親元から隔離され、親の愛を受けすに孤児のように一人で生きていかなければならなかったことであり、養父母や實父から受けた屈辱的言動や精神的虐待が心の傷となっている。殊に實の父親の冷酷さをも知って生じた自分の出生に対する疑いが生きる不安となっている。これが漱石の｢過去｣であり、トラウマ(trauma)であったと言え、またこれが漱石の一生を不安で孤独で淋しいものにしていると言える。ゆえに多くの精神醫學者が言う漱石の神經症やうつ病の症狀もこの漱石の幼兒期の心的外傷が原因であると言え、よって漱石の精神狀態は必ずしも內因性の精神病理であったとは言えない。
