There are many problems in current moral subject curriculum at korean high school, especially selecting curriculum. The one is deficiency of time and the other is an odd integration of 'Ethics and Thought' and 'Traditional Ethics'. Adding to these problems, there is a problem of intra integration contents and logics. We need to reform of this curriculum and the direction for resolve these problems, and I suggest two courses of study, ‘Ethics and Thought’ and ‘Applied Ethics’. ‘Ethics and Thought’ is a course of integration of current ‘Ethics and Thought’ and ‘Traditional Ethics’. ‘Applied Ethics’ is a course of practical ethics and aiming to develop logical practices. It is the top issue of korean moral subject education at high school that entrance to famous university, but the nature of moral education is to develop of moral imagination and moral sensibility, judgement. The direction for reform of moral subject curriculum is to be integration of ideal and reality.

도덕교육은 어떤 형식으로든지 교육과정을 전제로 하고, 그런 점에서 국가 수준의 도덕과 교육과정은 도덕과 교육의 목표와 내용을 결정짓는 핵심 기준이라고 볼 수 있다. 새로운 교육과정 개정 시점에서 이 논의는 고등학교 선택 교육과정에 초점을 맞추고 있고, 그 출발점은 현행 교육과정에 근거한 선택과목의 위상과 문제점에 대한 분석이다. 일반 선택과목으로서의 시민윤리와 심화 선택과목으로서의 윤리와 사상, 전통윤리가 각각 시민윤리의 실종과 심화 과목의 파행 운영 등의 문제점을 노정시키고 있다는 분석에 토대하여 마련된 현재의 선택 교육과정 시안에 대한 평가는 대체로 긍정적이다. 우선 ‘윤리와 사상’, ‘전통윤리’를 통합한 과목으로서의 ‘윤리와 사상’은 6단위 확보를 원칙으로 하고 있다는 점과 통합이 바람직하다는 점에서 발전적이고, 다른 과목으로서의 ‘응용윤리’ 또는 ‘가치와 사고’의 경우에는 도덕적 사고의 실천적 비평을 열 수 있다는 점에서 긍정적이다. 다만 과목명의 경우 ‘응용윤리’로 하는 것이 윤리 과목의 연속성을 유지할 수 있다는 점에서 바람직하다는 것이 이 논의의 결론이다.
