The purpose of this study is to analyze the prototypes of characters in depth by applying Vogler's character prototyping method to court drama in cable TV, which has recently been actively producing and organizing drama. In addition, we suggested the necessary implications for the development of the legal drama in the future considering the publicity of the broadcasting media, especially the airwaves as well as the media in the cable TV, and influence of the drama on the people. As a result of the analysis, first, it is the emergence of a character hero who was not able to come into contact with the existing. Second, the duplication of character prototypes of characters is remarkable. In other words, one character has more than two circles. Third, we can see melodic change or evolution in the drama as a whole. The heroic melody in the two drama shows a considerable gap with Melo of the existing professional drama. Fourth, in terms of drama production and composition, it is necessary to make various number of productions(number of broadcasts) suitable for individual statutory drama story structure and activation of season. Finally, because of the nature of court drama, it is highly probable that it will deal with such topics as social issues, so it is necessary to clearly recognize the responsibility and fairness of broadcasting.

본 연구는 최근 제작 및 편성이 확대되고 있는 법정드라마, 특히 장르 드라마 제작 및 편성이 아주 활성화되어 있는 케이블TV에서 법정드라마를 대상으로 Vogler의 인물원형 분석방법을 적용하여 등장인물의 원형을 심도 있게 분석하였다. 또한 지상파뿐만 아니라 케이블 TV가 가지고 있는 미디어의 공공성과 국민들에게 미치는 드라마의 영향력 및 파급력을 감안하여 향후 법정드라마의 변화발전 및 방송미디어정책에 필요한 시사점을 제시하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 기존에 접할 수 없었던 개성 있는 영웅 캐릭터의 등장이다. 둘째, 등장인물의 인물원형의 중복이 두드러진다. 다시 말해 하나의 캐릭터가 두 가지 이상의 원형을 갖는다는 것이다. 셋째, 드라마 전반에 있어서 멜로의 변화 또는 진화 양상을 볼 수 있다. 두 드라마에서의 영웅 원형의 멜로는 기존 전문직 드라마의 멜로와는 상당한 간극을 보여주고 있다. 넷째, 드라마 제작 및 편성 측면에서 개별 법정드라마 이야기 구조에 적합한 다양한 제작 편수(방송 횟수)와 시즌제의 활성화가 이루어질 필요가 있다. 마지막으로, 법정드라마의 특성상 사회적 문제와 같은 시사성 있는 주제들을 다룰 개연성이 높기 때문에 방송이 가져야 할 책임성과 공정성이라는 부분에 대해서도 명확하게 인식하는 것이 필요하다.
