Korea has a high export proportion of assembly processing industry and overseas procurement of intermediate goods and raw materials. So, the domestic value-added inducement effect is relatively low. And it is expected that this economic and industrial structure makes Korea more involved with the Global Value Chain. China's influence and competitiveness are expanding in the value chain structure of Korea, China and Japan, and the value creation of Korea and Japan is decreasing. Therefore, Korea should establish export expansion strategy with high added value industry rather than increasing the total amount of exports. The low value-added industries should be strengthen domestic competitiveness of materials and intermediate goods, and needed to find ways to increase the added value of their exports. In particular, China, which occupies more than one-quarter of Korea's exports, is becoming less dependent on foreign intermediate goods such as Korea. And turning into a consumption-oriented economic system. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the competitiveness of final goods exports and increase the value-added of intermediate goods exported to China.

전 세계적으로 글로벌 기업의 영향력이 커지고 글로벌 가치사슬(Global Value Chain, GVC) 생산 방식이 보편화되면서 국제 교역량이 증가하고, 중간재 수출·입 비중이 확대되고 있다. 이에 따라 기존 총액방식(Gross Value)의 무역통계 보다는 부가가치(Value- Added)기준 무역 통계의 사용이 국제교역의 효과와 성장에 미치는 영향을 더 잘 분석하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 논문에서는 글로벌 가치사슬의 동향과 확대 원인을 조사하고, OECD에서 발표되는 국제산업연관표(World Input Output Database, WIOD) 이용하여 우리나라의 총액기준과 부가가치기준 무역(Trade in Value Added, TiVA) 현황을 파악하였다. 또한 한국의 주요 교역국인 중국, 일본과의 부가가치기준 무역수지를 비교 분석하였다. 이어서 우리나라의 주요 수출산업별을 대상으로 부가가치기준 무역특화지수(TSI)를 산출하여 무역 및 산업정책 수립을 위한 시사점도 도출하였다. 본 논문의 분석에 사용된 WIOD 자료는 산업 분류가 포괄적이어서 반도체, 자동차, 스마트폰 등 우리나라 주요 수출품목 분석에 한계를 가진다. 향후 대상 산업이 확대되는 경우 최신 자료를 기반으로 세부 업종에 초점을 맞춘 미시적 분석을 통해 보다 효과적이고 실질적인 산업 및 무역정책의 수립이 가능해질 것으로 기대된다.
