This study examines the anxiety of a female artist reproduced in Cha Bumseok’s play from a psychoanalytic point of view, revealing Cha’s view of art, view of womanhood, and Audience Oriented Attitude. At this time, the psychopathological syndromes of female artist, who is the subject of anxiety, were specifically categorized and examined the points of contact with melodramatic elements. The novelist Yoon Kyungshim of the 「Fancy City」(1958) is a ‘Histrionic Personality Disorder’ that decorates to be recognized by others without finding their value, and shows a psychotic defensive mechanism of distortion and delusional projection. Sculptor Yun Byung-Hee of 「Castle of Roses」(1968) uses the omnipotent and rationalization mechanism as a ‘narcissistic personality disorder’ that is immersed in herself and does not recognize others as respectable individuals or persons. Lastly, the poet Sun Wooyoung of 「Fantasy Travel」(1971) chose a closed fantasy mechanism as ‘borderline personality disorder’ with identity disorder. They belong to the cluster B personality disorders, which results in a maladaptive situation with others because of intense and unstable interpersonal and self-centeredness. This is a setting that is suitable for foregrounding the excess of the melodrama. Each work has a strong relationship between the erotic and the sensational and the fantastic. And female artists, who are the Subject of a desire and anxiety, show the affects of anxiety. This acts as a factor enabling the female audience to engage in immersion and distance. In order to attract audiences who are absolute in theatrical performances, Cha Bumseok’s creative act, which placed the moral rationality in offering pleasure to witness the violation of taboos, reflects the purpose of combining the box office and the didacticism.

본고는 차범석의 작품에 재현된 여성예술가의 불안을 정신분석적 관점으로 고찰하여 작가의 예술관, 여성관, 관객 지향성 등을 규명하였다. 이때 불안의 주체인 여성예술가의 정신병리적 증후를 구체적으로 범주화해 멜로극적 요소와의 접점을 살펴보았다. 「공상도시」(1958)의 소설가 윤경심은 스스로의 가치를 찾지 못하고 타인에게 인정받기 위해 꾸미는 ‘연극성 성격장애(Histrionic Personality Disorder)’로 왜곡과 망상적 투사의 정신병적 방어기제를 보인다. 「장미의 성」(1968)의 조각가 윤병희는 자신에게 과몰입되어 타인을 존중된 개체나 인격으로 인지하지 못하는 ‘자기애성 성격장애(Narcissistic Personality Disorder)’로 전능, 합리화 기제를 사용한다. 마지막으로 「환상여행」(1971)의 시인 선우영은 정체성 장애를 가진 ‘경계성 성격장애(Borderline Personality Disorder)’로 폐쇄적 환상 기제를 선택했다. 이들은 강렬하고 불안정한 대인관계와 자기중심성 때문에 타인과의 부적응적 상황이 초래되는 B 군 성격에 속하고, 이는 멜로극의 과잉을 전경화하기에 적합한 설정으로 판단된다. 각 작품의 주요 서사는 관능성과 선정성・환상성과 밀접한 관계를 맺고있다. 또한 욕망의 주체이자 불안의 주체인 여성예술가들은 ‘불안의 정동’ 을 보이는데, 이것은 여성 관객에게 몰입과 거리두기를 가능하게 하는 요소로 작용한다. 연극 상연 시 절대적 존재인 관객을 유치하고자 금기의 일탈을 목격하는 쾌감을 제공하는 동시에 도덕적 비의를 위치시킨 차범석의 창작 행위는 흥행과 교훈성을 결합하고자 한 목적을 반영했다고 볼 수 있다.
