The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for study on the multicultural family consultation, through the contents of multicultural family consultation that consultants working at Support Center for Multicultural Families (SCFMF), established under Framework Act on Healthy Families, are actually experiencing. For this, I made questions for interview with systematic theory of family consultation for background and conducted focus group interview with 6 consultants working at SCFMF in Gyeonggi Province and 4 consultants working at SCFMF in Incheon. As a result, although objects of multicultural family consultation are the whole members of multicultural family, the consultation these consultants are experiencing are mostly educational consultation with immigrant women, and consultation in which the whole family members participate is impossible. As they are experiencing the problems are not resolved just by attaining the goal of personal counselling, the purpose of consultation should orient towards developing family’s ability including personal ability. Consultation periods are mostly one-time and unstructured. Accordingly, I show the importance of professional consultant intervention and of creating the environment of counselling office, and suggest the necessity of improvements for it. For the counselling approach, they experienced limitation of translation due to the linguistic and cultural differences and of consultation through psychological testing tool, and, after all, they suggested to intensively observe non-linguistic message and to use resources nearby. Their demands according to difficulties of role as a consultant are necessity of specialists, budget support to cover counselling office and manpower, and necessity of male consultant.

본 연구는 건강가정 기본법에 근거해 설립한 다문화가족지원센터 상담자들이 실제적 으로 경험하고 있는 다문화 가족상담 내용을 통해 다문화 가족상담 연구의 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 체계론적인 가족상담 이론을 배경으로 인터뷰 질문 내용을 만들어 경기도 지역 다문화가족지원센터에 있는 상담종사자 6명과 인천지역 다 문화가족지원센터에 있는 상담 종사자 4명을 대상으로 포커스 인터뷰(Focus Group Interview)를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 다문화 가족상담 대상자는 다문화 가족 구성원 전체이지만 이들이 경험하는 상담은 거의 이주 여성을 대상으로 하는 교육적인 상담으로 가족구성원 전체가 참여하 는 상담이 불가능한 실정이다. 상담의 목표는 개인 상담의 목표 달성만으로는 문제가 해 결되지 않는 것을 경험하고 있기에 개인을 포함하여 가족의 역량을 키우는데 목표를 두 는 상담이 지향되어야 한다. 상담기간은 일회성에 그치는 상담과 구조화되어 있지 않은 상담이 대다수이다. 이에 전문상담사 개입과 상담실 환경 조성의 중요성을 밝히고 그에 대한 개선 방안의 필요성을 제언한다. 상담 접근방법으로는 언어와 문화차이로 인해 통 역이나 심리검사 도구를 통한 상담의 한계를 경험하였고 결국 비언어적 메시지를 집중 해서 관찰하고 가까운 자원을 활용하는 방법을 제안하였다. 상담자로서 역할의 어려움 에 따른 그들의 요구는 전문 인력의 필요성과 상담실과 인력을 충당할 예산지원 및 남성 상담자의 필요성이다.
