The aim of this study is to analyze the culture code which contemporary people share through a drama on television. To achieve this, we attempted to conduct an image analysis and a narrative analysis of 2013 tvN drama , . By analyzing an image analysis, this study shows focused on the values of ‘safety’, ‘communication’, ‘community’ and ‘going back to the past’ by using the popular items and mass media at that time and by processing images and tones. In addition, in an narrative analysis, this drama illustrated ‘an emotion of the first love’, ‘representation of utopian past’ and centralization of rural area. These results mean that pursues the utopian values on community, communication, intimacy and love through a detective narrative, regionality and trend of the times. These analysis on the culture code of television drama will contribute to analyze how culture codes are consumed by consumer in today’s culture market.

본 연구는 텔레비전 드라마를 통해 현 시대 사람들이 공유하는 가치인 문화코드를 분 석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 2013년 tvN에서 방영한 텔레비전 드라마 <응답 하라 1994>의 영상분석과 서사분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 드라마 <응답하라 1994>의 영상분석을 통해 마스컴 처리, 덜톤의 기본 컬러, 1994년대 유행했던 소품 사 용, 1994년의 대중매체 활용 등을 통해 드라마가 ‘안정성, 과거로의 회귀, 소통성, 공동 체성’ 등의 가치를 표현하고 있음을 분석하였다. 또한 서사분석을 통해 이 드라마가 ‘첫 사랑의 풋풋함을 전달’하고 ‘과거를 유토피아적으로 재현’하며 지방을 ‘지역’으로서 중심 화시키고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 영상분석과 서사분석의 결과는 곧 드라마 <응답 하라 1994>가 추리서사와 지역성, 시대성을 보여주며 ‘공동체, 소통, 친밀성, 사랑’ 등의 유토피아적 가치를 추구하고 있는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 드라마의 문화코드 분석은 드라마 가 소비자에게 전달하는 문화코드를 도출하고 문화코드가 오늘날 문화시장에서 어떻게 소비되는가를 분석하는 데 기여할 것이다.
