The Purpose of this study was to find the effects of suitability rule and explanation duty influencing on fund investment satisfaction. The data were drawn from Fund Investors Survey data collected by the Korea Financial Investors Protection Foundation, and 1,171 subjects were selected who had experienced fund investment through a financial company windows. Main results were as follows. First, fund investment satisfactions were measured in terms of 8 items(5 items for fund characteristics, 4 items for investment services), and were showed range of 2.24~2.67 out of 4 point Likert. And fund investment satisfaction for item of return on fund investment out of 8 measurement items showed the lowest level. Second, out of suitability rule related factors, ‘making of investor’s information confirmation document’ & ‘diagnosis of investors’ investment inclination’ were turned out to be very important factor for enhancing fund invest satisfaction. Furthermore, that fund sellers recommend the fund commodities, which suit investors’ invest inclination, was also turned out to be very important factor. The higher the level of ‘fund investors’ agreement with that consulting content of fund sellers’ is necessary for best investment, the higher the level of fund investment satisfaction. This result imply that it is not only fund investment itself, but what was consulted for the fund investor’s favour. Third, out of explanation duty related factors, the factor of fund seller’s consulting time was found to be significant factor for enhancing fund invest satisfaction. That is, the group of over 30 minutes showed higher fund invest satisfaction than the group of below 30 minutes. Furthermore, the factor of ‘fund investors’ satisfaction toward fund commodity explanation by fund seller’, was turned out to be important on fund invest satisfaction. Fourth, ‘the level of understanding toward fund most recent invested’ was found to be significantly related with explanation duty related factors. And the higher the level of understanding toward fund most recent invested, the higher the level of fund invest satisfaction. Those results imply that sellers’ full explanation enhance investors’ understanding toward fund and eventually affect on fund invest satisfaction.

본 연구의 목적은 자본시장법 상의 적합성원칙 및 설명의무 관련 요인이 펀드투자자의 펀드투자 만족도를 높이는 데 얼마나 중요한가를 밝히며 이를 기초로 금융소비자교육 및 펀드판매직원 교육에 대한 함의를 찾는데 있다. 이를 위해 한국금융투자자보호재단의 2016 펀드투자자조사 자료를 이용하되 금융회사를 직접 방문하여 펀드투자 경험이 있는 1,171명을 대상으로 하였으며, 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 펀드투자 만족도는 총 8개 항목(펀드상품자체특성 5개 항목, 투자과정서비스 3개 항목)에 대한 만족도를 측정하였고, 항목별로 4점 리커트의 2.24~2.67의 수준을 보였으며 가장 낮은 것은 펀드수익률이다. 둘째, 적합성원칙 관련 요인 중 투자자정보확인서 작성 및 투자자성향 진단을 이행한 응답자가 이행하지 않은 응답자에 비해 환매비용을 제외한 모든 펀드투자 만족도 항목에서 높은 만족도 수준을 보였다. 또한 투자성향 진단결과에 맞는 펀드상품을 권유받은 응답자가 그렇지 않은 응답자에 비해 펀드투자 만족도 모든 항목에서 유의하게 높았으며, 투자자가 펀드판매직원으로부터 자신의 상황에 적합한 펀드상품에 대한 상담이 충분하다고 생각할수록 펀드투자 만족도 수준이 유의하게 높았다. 셋째, 설명의무 관련 요인 중 ‘펀드상품 가입 시 상담시간’은 응답자의 80% 정도가 ‘30분 미만’이라고 응답하였으며, ‘30분 이상’ 집단에 비해 펀드투자 만족도가 유의하게 낮았다. 또한 펀드투자자가 펀드판매직원의 상품설명에 대해 만족할수록 펀드투자 만족도가 높은 결과를 보여 설명의무의 중요성을 시사하였다. 넷째, 펀드투자자의 가장 최근에 가입한 펀드상품에 대한 이해수준은 펀드투자 만족도와 펀드판매직원의 설명의무 관련 요인과 매우 유의한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 펀드판매직원의 상담과정에서의 충분한 설명은 결국 펀드투자자가 구매하려는 펀드상품에 대한 이해도를 높이고 이것이 펀드투자 만족수준을 높이는 기저로 작용할 수 있음을 시사한다. 이상의 주요결과를 기초로 금융소비자(혹은 펀드투자자) 및 펀드판매직원을 대상으로 한 교육 시 적합성원칙과 설명의무가 법을 지키기 위한 차원을 떠나 펀드투자 만족도를 높이기 위해 얼마나 중요한지를 인식시키는 내용을 포함하는 것이 바람직할 것이다.
