R&D and Foreign opening index are generally used as main variables that effected on total factor productivity. But in R&D case, even though it can be classified in many types according to influencing categories or time lag. But in existing research there are no such distinctions and only estimate total effect. Especially, former comparative studies about total factor productivity between small or medium enterprises and large enterprises, show that small or medium enterprises has higher Total factor productivity than large enterprises. But it can be deducted other results when large enterprises and small or medium enterprises have different view about R&D categories that interested in, or time lag. In this research, we classified R&D in basic, application and development. And analysis how much total productivity has effected by each R&D expenditure, using Multi usingmodin. As a result, basic and application R&D don't effected on total productivity, development R&D, each R&other hand, has effected on total productivity. And we also found that development R&D has more effective to increase total productivity when using in small or medium enterprises.

20세기 후반 이후 세계화 현상이 가속화되면서 전 세계적으로 경쟁이 심화되고 있다. 특히 한국의 경우, 국민총소득(GNI)대비 수출입 비중으로 표현되는 대외의존도가 2000년 들어 80% 상회하는 높은 의존도를 보일 뿐 아니라, 최근 금융위기 등으로 인한 외부환경변화로 2008년 현재 110.6%에 이르고 있다.
