This paper considers the production system where the order goes through n different production phases before the completion of the production. We also assume that there are m such different production lines. We find the optimal flow rates in each production phase in the system. The order arrives at the system with the Poisson distribution rate and each production phase has production rate with exponential times. After the completion of each phase, the work in process will be assigned to one of the next possible phases from previous phase through given transition probability. We transform the system into the Jackson network and find the optimal flow rate to each phase with linear programming technique to minimize the total inter-phase transport costs per unit time.
