This article attempts to examine the progression of Korean studies on Japanese post-war literature over the last 10 years, and to assess the problems experienced by researchers in this field. During the last 10 years, the increase in the number of studies and discourses relating to the “post-war” period in Japan has resulted in a concurrent increase in the number of studies about Japanese post-war literature in “The Korean Journal of Japanology”. However, an examination of the themes and keywords associated with these studies indicates that many researchers continue to consider these issues from the perspective of modernity. The reason for this is that the concept of “post-war” is ambiguous and tends to be based on the memory of the experience of war in Japan. Understanding the meaning of the term “post-war” would reveal the national identity of the Japanese. To overcome this problem and to enrich studies of Japanese post-war issues, a new approach is called for. Therefore, it is suggested that the concept of “post-war” be replaced with concepts such as “occupation”, “cold-war”, or “Pax-America”, or even by making a connection between studies of the post-war period and those of modernity.

본 논문은『일본학보』를 중심으로, 지난 10년 동안 한국에서 ‘전후’ 문학 연구의 동향과 문제점을 짚어보고, 향후 근현대문학 연구가 나아가야 할 방향에 대해서 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 지난 10년간 일본에서 ‘전후’ 관련 담론이 늘어나면서 『일본학보』에서도 ‘전후’ 관련 논문은 상당히 늘어났다. 하지만 그 연구의 주제 및 키워드를 검토해보면, 여전히 많은 연구가 ‘근대’ 스터디의 일환으로 ‘전후’를 바라보고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 이는 ‘전후’라는 개념 그 자체가 모호하므로, 일본의 문제를 ‘근대’라는 관점에서 보는 데 연구자들이 익숙해져 있기 때문이다. 이러한 문제를 극복하면서 양질의 ‘전후’ 스터디를 하기 위해서는 ‘전후’를 점령이나 냉전, 팍스 아메리카나 같은 개념으로 대체하거나, 혹은 그 방법론에 있어 근대 스터디의 노하우를 대거 받아들일 필요가 있다.
