Background Letters and texts are created when human beings have a willingness to express something through a process of thinking in a proactive way. Compared to the spoken language and the pictorial image, the character has the inherent advantage of transferring the universal thinking system to later generations and physically accumulating the information because of the nature of its objective meaning transfer recording system. Methods In order to overcome the limitation of logical and systematic system of character symbols and to expand the use of characters, The tendency classification, analysis, and complementary relation between text and image, which have experimentally been connected experimentally in the complementary relationship between characters and images which can be considered as projection method of human thought and thought. This paper proposes a way to overcome the limitations of each information delivery system. Result Characters and images have separately played separate roles as mediators that convey meaning and total narrative separately. There has been an experiment to overcome the limits of the symbolic / directive content transmission of the character itself through the form of concrete poetry and visual poetry, and the formative aesthetic basis for this has been the dislocation that emerged in the early 20th century political / An ideological basis can be found in the avant-garde art history. The areas of language / time / space are summed up so that readers can understand contents simultaneously by auditory, visual and spatial understanding of objects and contents. Conclusion Characters as unoccupied symbol systems are complementary to the image of representation area, so that the result of expanding the scope of visual perception so that static objects can have visual energy as well as the complex nature of media.

연구배경 문자와 글은 인간이 선행적으로 사고(思考)라를 과정을 거쳐 무엇을 표현하고자 하는 의지가 있을 때 생성되어진다. 음성언어나 구상적인 이미지에 비해 문자는 그 객관적 의미전달 기록체계라는 성격으로 인해서 보편적인 사고체계를 후대에 전달하고 정보를 물리적으로 축적시킬 수 있는 내재적인 장점이 있다. 연구방법 논리적이며 체계적인 문자기호 체계의 한계를 극복하고 문자사용 방법의 발전적 확장의 관점으로 이미지와 문자의 결합체계를 주 연구대상으로 삼고자 한다. 인간 사고와 사유의 투영방법이라고 할 수 있는 문자와 이미지의 상호 보완적인 관계 속에서 실험적으로 이어져왔던 다양한 문자를 매개로하는 매체에 대한 경향적 분류, 분석과 문자와 이미지 사이의 보완적 관계의 사례를 통해 각각이 가지고 있는 정보 전달체계로서의 한계를 극복하는 단초를 제시하고자 한다. 연구결과 문자와 이미지는 개별적으로 분리된 채 의미와 총제적인 내러티브를 전달하는 매개체로서 개별적인 역할을 이어왔다. 구체시와 시각시의 형식을 통해서 문자 자체가 가지고 있는 기호적/지시적 내용전달의 한계를 극복하고자하는 실험이 있어왔고, 이에 대한 조형적 미학적 밑바탕은 20세기 초반 정치/사회적인 변혁기에 등장하게 되는 전위적 아방가르드(avant-garde)예술사조에서 이념적인 근거를 찾을 수 있다. 언어/시간/공간의 영역이 총합되어 독자는 사물과 내용에 대하여 청각, 시각, 공간적인 이해를 하면서 콘텐츠에 대한 동시적인 이해를 할 수 있게 되었다. 결론 비구상적 상징체계로서의 문자는 재현의 영역의 이미지와 상호 보완적으로 결합되어 매체의 복합적 성격 뿐만 아니라 정적대상이 시각적인 에너지를 가질 수 있도록 시지각적인 인식의 범위를 확장하는 결과를 기대할 수 있게 되었다.
