This study aims to understand the process of Simbongsa’s individuation by looking at the change of his anima, an inner feminine personality in the unconscious world of a man, which is a central concept of Jung’s analytical psychology. As the Simbongsa story develops, Simbongsa who was dependent and incompetent gets to integrate his personality with various elements through the loss of his daughter. This study analysed his anima projection reflected from the process of individuation by exploring female characters related to him. The significance of this study is that readers can extend understanding of anima which could be an indicator of the process of individuation. Besides, being conducted based on a Korean folk tale, it provides quite a new resource of research on anima and individuation. This study plumbs Simbongsa story to broaden understanding of the crisis and individuation that a man could experience. This study expects to help male pastors prevent difficulties that might occur in their ministry when they take care of female church members. In addition, it is hoped that male pastors strengthen their spiritual leadership from spiritual counseling to general ministry. The findings of this study would be applicable to pastors, their wives, and married couples who want to comprehend a present or potential crisis in their relationship, since it provides a good reference to understand spouse’s individuation.

본 연구는 융의 분석심리학적 관점에서 본 심봉사의 개성화 과정에 대한 연구로 분석심리의 주요 개념 가운데 남성의 내적인격인 아니마의 변화를 통해 심봉사의 개성화 과정을 이해하려는 것이다. 심봉사가 눈을 뜨는 과정에서 혼돈과 절망을 극복하고 새롭게 태어난다. 곽씨 부인과 어린 심청에게 의존적이었던 심봉사가 자식을 잃고 여러 인격 요소들의 통합 과정에서 여성들과의 관계를 이해하고 분석하여 개성화 과정의 아니마 투사를 분석한다. 본 연구는 이를 통해 심봉사의 개성화를 이해하는 것으로, 민담이나 이야기 속 아니마에 대한 이해를 기반으로 한 연구는 드물었다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 심봉사 개성화 과정에 나타난 아니마 발달을 분석함으로써 남성이 경험하는 위기와 개성화를 이해할 수 있다. 특히 한국교회에 남성 목회자와 여성 성도가 많은 현실에서 심봉사의 아니마 발현, 즉 남성의 내적인격인 아니마 투사를 통해 남성 위기를 인식하고, 여성 교인과의 상호관계에서 나타날 수 있는 위험을 방지하며 건강한 목회와 신앙생활을 위한 과정으로 영적성장을 도울 수 있을 것이다. 나아가 목회자 부부 또는 기독교인 가정의 위기를 이해하고 영성적 차원의 목회상담과 목회자의 대인관계에서 나타날 수 있는 위험성을 이해하고 개성화에 도움이 될 것이다.
