I examined the meaning of “God of Night” and “God of Day” which appeared recently and was used for a short time in the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. Owing to the short period of use, there has been less discussion of the terms whose arbitrary interpretation happens without any theological proof. Concerned that the terms are connected to the ontological concept of True Parents which is the core faith of FFWPU, theological analysis on the terms should be taken place before using the terms. I question the existing understanding of the terms that regard God of Night and God of Day as the intangible God and the tangible True Parents respectively by citing some examples that can have different interpretations. Thereafter, from the diverse interpretations I suggest the general meaning of the concepts of God of Night and God of Day as the subject and the object in the reciprocal relationship of dual characteristics of God. The meaning of God of Night and God of Day in view of the relationship between subject partner and object partner can be viewed greatly as follows: first, God’s dual characteristics either of Sungsang and Hyungsang or of Yang-masculinity and Yin-femininity, second, the intangible God and the tangible True Parents. Therefore, in respect to the first meaning of the terms and the fact that True Parents are beings that God’s dual characteristics are manifested and have achieved perfection, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Mrs. Hak Ja Han can each be regarded as the substantial body of God of Night and God of Day separately in FFWPU’s theology.

이 논문은 세계평화통일가정연합에서 최근에 등장하여 짧은 사용 시기를 거친 밤의 하나님과 낮의 하나님의 의미를 신학적으로 고찰한다. 밤의 하나님과 낮의 하 나님은 세계평화통일가정연합에서 신앙의 핵심인 참부모의 존재론적 개념에 사용 되기도 한다는 점에서 신학적 논증을 거친 후 사용되어져야 한다. 기존의 견해는 하 나님과 낮의 하나님을 각각 무형의 하나님, 유형의 참부모님으로 간주하는 경향이 있는데 필자는 다르게 해석될 수 있는 사례를 들어 기존 해석의 정합성에 의문을 제기한다. 그 후 다양하게 해석될 수 있는 밤의 하나님과 낮의 하나님의 보편적 해석 의 틀을 하나님의 이성성상의 관계인 주체와 대상으로 제시한다. 주체와 대상의 관 계로 본 밤의 하나님과 낮의 하나님은 크게 첫째, 하나님의 이성성상인 성상과 형상 혹은 양(남성적 성품)과 음(여성적 성품)으로, 둘째, 첫째 의미를 확대 적용하여 무형 의 하나님과 유형의 참부모님으로 해석된다. 따라서 첫째 의미를 기본으로 하고, 하 나님의 이성성상이 실체로 전개되어 완성한 존재가 참부모라는 점에서 세계평화통 일가정연합의 신학에서 하나님과 일체를 이룬 문선명 선생, 한학자 여사는 각각 밤 의 하나님의 실체와 낮의 하나님의 실체라 간주될 수 있다.
