The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the educational and labor market outcomes among university graduates who had experienced college transfer. The study targeted 17,387 people who were surveyed by Korea Employment Information Service(KEIS) within the data of Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey(GOMS) 2010. Propensity score matching(PSM) was used in this study to remove the component of correlation due to the selection which ensures equivalence between the treatment and control group. The following findings were drawn from the results of the research. The university graduates who have experienced college transfer have not shown statistically significant differences in employment probability and wages after employment compared to those who do not had transferred. These results indicate that graduates who experience college transfer are not showing superior performance on labor market compared to those who had not transferred their university. After controlling assignment effect to secure equivalence among the treatment groups, the result had shown that it is difficult to expect a significant effect on the educational outcomes or labor performances as a result of the selection of universities by college transfer. Even though the college transferees had transferred to higher ranked universities, they relatively had not sufficient time to accumulate human capital compared to the students who had not experienced college transfer.

본 연구는 대졸 청년층을 대상으로 교육성과 및 노동시장 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 편입학을 중심으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구대상은 한국고용정보원에서 제공하는 대졸자직업이동경로(Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey; GOMS) 중에서 2010년 졸업자 대상으로 조사한 데이터의 17,387명을 분석 대상으로 삼았다. 이러한 자료는 경향점수매칭(propensity score matching: PSM)을 적용하여 편입학에 대한 선택편의를 통제하여 집단 간의 동등성을 확보하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 편입을 경험한 대학 졸업자들을 그렇지 않은 집단에 비해 취업 확률과 임금 면에서 유의미한 차이를 드러내지 않았다. 이러한 분석 결과는 편입학을 경험한 대학졸업자들이 그렇지 않은 대학 졸업자들에 비해 노동시장에서의 성과가 높지 않은 것을 의미한다. 경향점수매칭을 통하여 편입생과 유사한 배경을 지닌 대학생들로 분석대상을 동등화한 후 분석한 결과, 상위 대학으로 편입학을 함에 따른 교육성과 혹은 노동성과에서 통계적으로 유의한 결과는 나타나지 않았다. 결국 편입을 통해 서열이 높은 대학으로 이동함에도 불구하고 편입생은 비편입생에 비하여 이동한 대학에서 인적자본을 축적할 시간이 상대적으로 부족하기 때문에 편입한 대학의 서열효과를 충분히 누리지 못한다는 점을 시사한다고 할 수 있다.
