This study suggested that it is redesigned and operated as a character education that is related to the major rather than the existing virtue - oriented character education. And we examined quantitative and qualitative degree of character cultivation by the effect of education. First, the precedent study was reviewed and virtue of the character education was selected. Second, we designed classroom management procedures, teaching-learning methods and evaluation methods. As a result, it was confirmed that the students who participated in the class had significantly increased their character test scores after the class. In addition, the students suggested that this class was an opportunity to practice the virtues of character that was learned and that it was good to think about it in connection with the major. This study describes details the process of redesign of the character education and actual operation, discusses exposed limitations during operation and educational implication, and also gives suggestions for the successful character education design and operation.

본 연구는 기존의 덕목 중심 인성교과를 전공연계 인성교과로 재설계하고 운영하는 과정을 제시하였다. 그리고 이에 참여한 학습자에 대해 수업의 효과로 나타난 인성함양의 변화와 성찰일지로 살펴본 질적 효과를 살펴보았다. 먼저, 전공연계 인성교과로 재설계하기 위해 먼저 선행연구 검토 및 덕목선정을 한 후, 한 학기 간의 전체적인 수업 운영절차, 수업방식 및 평가방식을 설계하였다. 전공연계 인성교과에 한 학기동안 참여한 학생들은 인성검사에서 수업 전에 비해 수업 후에 유의미하게 점수가 높아진 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 본 수업에 대한 만족도를 강의평가로 살펴본 결과 동(同)학교 기초교양 평균점수와 비교하여 비교적 높았으며, 인성에 대한 성찰과 전공으로의 적용에 대한 언급이 많은 것을 알 수 있었다. 인성 프로그램의 질적 효과를 살피기 위해 살펴본 성찰일지에서도 인성의 실천 및 전공과 연계한 실천에 대한 언급이 가장 많은 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 전공연계 인성교과의 설계와 운영가정에 대해 상세히 기술하였으며, 논의에서는 이 운영과정에서 확인할 수 있었던 효과와 이에 대한 교육적 시사점에 대하여 논의하였다. 더불어 본 교과목 설계와 운영, 효과 검토에 있어서의 한계점과 추후 발전을 위한 제언을 기술하였다.
