The purpose of the study was to provide the directions for future Practical Arts education to prepare for the 4th industrial revolution era. The contents to achieve the purpose of the study were as follows. First, contemplating the future society by analyzing the wave theory and the industrial revolution theory; Second, analysing the objectives and the contents of the Practical Arts education; Third, providing the directions of the future Practical Arts education. The directions of the future Practical Arts education provided based on predicting future were as follows. First, the objectives and the contents of the Practical Arts education should be developed based on the analysis of the influences from the 4th industrial revolution era for each areas of the Practical Arts education. Second, the integrated education and the steam education should be performed withing or between Practical Arts education. Third, the career education should be implemented with considering career changes by the 4th industrial revolution era. Fourth, the 16 core competences suggested by WEF should be included in the Practical Arts curriculum. Fifth, the preparation of the elementary school teacher, who will carry out the Practical Arts education, should be peroformed very thoroughly.

이 연구의 목적은 이 연구에서는 4차 산업혁명이 가져올 미래 사회를 기반으로 실과교육이 가야할 방향을 알아보는데 있다. 이 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 고찰한 내용은 첫째, 물결 이론과 산업혁명 이론의 분석을 통한 미래 사회 고찰, 둘째, 실과교과 목표 및 내용 고찰, 셋째, 미래 실과교육의 방향이었다. 미래에 대한 예측을 기반으로 제안된 미래 실과교육의 방향은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실과교육의 영역별 제4차 산업혁명 시대의 영향을 분석하고 이에 대비한 실과교육목표를 설정하고 교육내용을 개발해야 한다. 둘째, 실과교과 내 혹은 실과 외 통합 및 융합교육이 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 제4차 산업혁명 시대의 직업 변화를 고려한 진로교육이 이루어져야 한다. 넷째, WEF가 ‘21세기 기술’이라는 이름으로 제안한 16가지 핵심 기술을 기를 수 있는 수업을 수행할 수 있도록 실과교육 내용을 구성해야 한다. 다섯째, 실제 실과교육을 수행하는 교사의 준비를 보다 철저하게 해야 한다.
