The purpose of present paper is to explore in terms of the diffusion of crime prevention benefits. Displacement of crime and disorder is the un-intended effect of crime-control programmes, by which efforts to prevent one kind of crime sometimes lead to would-be-offenders to commit a different type of crime, or the same type of crime at a different time and place. Present paper highlights to better understand in terms of natures of displacement and its features including diffusion for preventing crime and disorder for safer community. The paper also discusses what the theoretical explanations for and against them. This paper provides some theoretical evidences in support of the existence of them. Finally, it also suggests the implications for crime prevention of safer community.

본 논문은 범죄예방이익의 확산과 관련된 내용들 그중에서도 범죄전이효과를 재고찰 하는 것에 의의가 있다. 범죄 및 무질서와 관련된 전이효과는 범죄통제프로그램들을 실시하는 과정에서 발생하는 소위 ‘의도하지 않은 효과’이다. 예를 들어, 특정 범죄를 예방 및 통제하기 위해서 실시했던 범죄예방 및 통제정책이 의도하지 않게 다른 종류의 범죄를 발생시키거나 혹은 다른 시간과 장소에 기존의 예방목적이었던 범죄를 더욱더 발생시킨다. 이에 본 논문은 이러한 범죄 전이로 인해 발생하는 현상들에 대한 기존문헌들을 검토하여 이러한 현상들에 대한 이론적 접근을 통한 증거를 제공하는 것에 초점을 맞추었으며, 안전한 사회를 위한 범죄예방정책을 위해 어떠한 것들이 필요한지를 살펴보았다.
