- The purposes of this study were to examine the prospective effects of stress and self-esteem in the adolescence on depression in the emerging adulthood using the KYPS panel data collected by National Youth Policy Institute in Korea. The results showed that stress and self-esteem in the adolescence have independently predicted depression in the emerging adulthood, but did not interact in the prediction. Based on the findings of this study, the researcher suggested practical implications in counseling to change stress and self-esteem in the adolescents for the purpose of preventing depression in the emerging adulthood.
