As an effort to develop an efficient teaching and learning method of the education of children with intellectual disabilities, the present study examines how Korean children songs can be employed for the education of children with intellectual disabilities, analyzing prior studies of early childhood education. The first aim of the study is to analyze prior studies for early childhood education, focusing on the characteristics of Korean children songs and their contributions to and applications for early childhood development. The second goal of this study is to examine what making use of Korean children songs means in the early childhood education for children with intellectual disabilities. For these purposes, the present study first surveys prior studies from the KISS database and investigates the trends, plans, and domains of research on the early child education with Korean children songs and further the significance of such research on the early childhood education for children with intellectual disabilities. More specifically, the current study searches “Junraedongyo” in the KISS database and collects data in relation to child development without any restriction in the year of publication. Then, two subsequent analyses are performed. This study identifies the trends of research on child education with the employment of Korean children songs and the application of Korean children songs in early childhood education. The conclusions of the study are as followed. Firstly, the themes in most previous studies cited in this study are related to child development. In other words, most prior studies indicate that Korean children songs influences child development in motor, emotion, social skill, language, and intellectual. Secondly, in most prior studies, Korean children songs contain implicit musical characteristics, which are appropriate for the child development. Thirdly, the programs for early childhood education, taking advantage of Korean children songs, contribute much to education for children with intellectual disabilities.

본 연구는 전래동요가 지적장애 유아의 발달을 극대화할 보다 다양한 교수ㆍ학습 방법의 지평을 넓히는데 기여 할 바가 크다고 보아, 전래동요를 활용한 기존의 유아교육 연구들을 분석하여 그 속에서 전래동요가 가진 특성 을 파악하고 그것을 활용한 교육적 방법을 파악해 지적장애 유아 교육에 주는 의미를 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 본 연구가 가진 구체적인 목적은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 발달을 장려하기 위해 그동안 전래동요를 활용한 선 행연구들의 연구 주제, 연구유형, 이론적 배경에 나타난 전래동요의 특성과 발달에 기여한 부분 등을 분석하고, 선행연구에서 실행된 전래동요의 활용 내용과 그것을 통하여 장려된 내용을 분석한다. 둘째, 전래동요를 활용한 교육적 방안이 지적장애아 교육에 주는 의미를 탐색한다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 우선, 우리나라의 연구 데이터베이스(KISS)에서 자료를 수집한 다음, 연구 의 동향 및 선행연구 속에 나타난 전래동요를 활용한 교육활동에서 유아발달 영역, 유아발달을 장려하기 위한 방안 등을 분석하여 정리한 후, 그 방안 내용이 지적장애 유아 교육에 주는 의미를 탐색하는 절차를 가진다. 본 연구에서 실행된 자료 수집은 전래동요를 활용한 유아발달 관련 연구들을 선정하는 것이다. 그 과정은 국내 학회지 데이터베이스 5개 중 “KISS(한국학술정보)”에서 “전래동요”를 검색어로 선정하고, 연도의 제한 없이 유 아발달 관련 연구를 추출하였다. 본 연구에서 이루어지는 선행연구 자료 분석은 두 가지 차원에서 이루어진다. 하나는 유아의 발달을 장려하기 위해 전래동요를 활용한 연구 동향이다. 이것을 위하여 전래동요를 활용한 연구주제, 연구의 이론적 배경에 나 타난 전래동요의 특성과 유아발달에 기여한 부분, 그리고 연구유형 등이 분석된다. 나머지는, 연구에서 실행한 전래동요의 유아발달 장려 내용과 전래동요를 활용한 교육 방안이 분석된다. 연구목적과 관련하여 본 연구의 결론을 요약하면 첫째, 본 연구에서 분석된 전래동요를 활용한 유아교육 연구의 대부분은 유아발달과 밀접하였다. 다시 말해, 전래동요가 유아의 다섯 가지 기본발달 전반에 지대한 영향을 미 치고 있다는 것이다. 둘째로, 각 연구에서 언급된 선행연구 속에서 볼때, 전래동요는 유아발달을 장려하는 데에 매우 적합한 음악적 요소를 가지고 있었다. 셋째, 전래동요가 가진 특성이 유아의 발달 장려를 위한 다양하고도 풍부한 교육 프로그램을 구성하도록 하여, 그것이 지적장애 유아교육에 시사하는 바가 매우 지대할 것으로 예상 되었다.
