The Danso lesson is conducted from the 5th grade to and the 6th grade according to the 7th national curriculum of music. One of the main reasons teachers in elementary school demand a full-time music teacher is to play Korean music instruments including Danso. Thus, in view of practical problem-solving, this study aims to analyse the exiting curriculum of elementary Danso lesson by experience and search the way to improve it. In order to achieve the given educational goal, it is necessary to provide the appropriate educational support such as systematically organized curriculum. In other words, for Danso class, not only teachers' ability to play it but also proper teaching methods and programs need to be prepared in the course of nature. After examining basic elements and real classroom situations of Danso lesson, however, there are still some deficiencies: students begins it too late with insufficient class time; contents are not systemized; the initial making of sound is not fully concentrated; Si- gim-sae, the traditional musical notations, are not unified; and so forth. Consequently, the results of this study indicates that it is required to revise the curriculum of elementary Danso lesson: which needs to contain adequate learning age and lesson time as well as fully-organized contents from the first sound-making process to the uniform code of musical notation. In the reality of excessive modernized world which traditional musics are sometimes regarded as outdated antiques, it is expected through whole study that the improvement in the quality of Korean music class will help students to have a correct understanding of cultural identity.

초등학교 7차 교육과정에서는 단소학습이 5, 6학년에 나온다. 일반 학급 담임교사들이 음악교과전담교사를 요구하는 이유 중의 하나는 국악실기에 대한 어려움 때문인데, 이 중에는 단소 실기도 중요한 부분이라고 할 수 있다. 교육목표를 달성하기 위하여 선택된 교육내용과 학습활동을 체계적으로 편성ㆍ조직한 국악 영역의 교육과정의 개선에 대 한 필요성이 요구된다. 교사들이 단소 지도능력이 있어야 하는 것은 당연하며, 5, 6학년에 단소 학습이 나온다면 그에 알 맞은 자료들과 프로그램이 과들에게 지원되어야 한다. 이 글에서는 필자가 학생들에게 단소를 지도하면서 고민하고 느꼈던 사항들과 경험들과 관련하여, 초등학교 교육과정을 분석하고, 단소 지도내용의 문제점에 대한 개선 방안을 고찰해 보고자 한다. 교육 현장에서 단소지도의 기본요소를 분석하고 필요성을 고찰해 본 바, 단소지도 시수를 확대하고, 단소 학습 시점을 앞 당기며, 전체 구성이 체계성을 이룰 수 있도록 교육과정의 개편이 요구 된다. 또한 초기의 단소지도에서 소리내기가 가장 어려운 부분임을 인식하고, 기존의 다양한 방법을 바탕으로 더욱 효율적인 방안이 모색되어야 할 것이다. 시김새에 대한 명확한 용어정리가 필요하며, 각 시김새를 표현하는 방법에 대하여도 교사들에게 혼란을 일으키지 않도록 분명하고 자세 하게 제공되어야한다. 국어보다 영어가 더 중시되는 현재의 상황은 서양음악이 국악에 앞서는 상황과 맥락을 같이 하고 있다, 21세기 인류 사회 가 직면한 가장 중요한 화두인 세계화 시대에 문화교육은 정체성 교육을 위해 중요하다. 그러므로 우리의 국악 교육 내실 화로 학교 음악교육의 질적 수준을 향상시키고, 이를 통해 우리 음악문화를 발전시켜야 할 것이다.
