Although as the interconnectedness among countries, individuals and groups has been realized, the importance of Global Citizen Education has also been emphasized. Because of the lack of clear direction on what to do in today’s school curriculums, there has been confusion in many schools currently. Therefore, in order to spread the global citizen education, there needs to be contents and methods of global citizen education that are newly organized and suggested by us in accordance with the one being implemented world-wide. So, in this study, we analyze the similarities and differences between global citizen education curriculums and related indexes developed reliably and appropriately, based on which, further suggesting the global citizen education index that can be linked with the revised education curriculum in 2015. The suggested index, as the one which has been reconstructed based harmoniously on both the national level of curriculum in Korea and the curriculum for global citizen education, is suggesting the primary direction of global citizen education of unit school and thereby becoming a milestone for debates and agreements between scholars and teachers.

국가 간, 집단 간, 개인 간 상호연계성이 삶에 숙명으로 현실화되면서 세계시민교육의 중요성은 강조되고 있지만, 학교 현장에서는 교육과정 내에서 무엇을 어떻게 해야 하는지에 대한 명확한 방향성이 없어 혼란스러움을 느끼고 있다. 따라서 세계시민교육 확산을 위해서는 국가수준 교육과정인 2015 개정 교육과정의 방향을 유지하면서도 세계에서 실시되고 있는 세계시민교육의 내용과 방법을 우리만의 방식으로 새롭게 정리하여 제시할 필요가 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 신뢰롭고 타당하게 개발된 세계시민교육과정 및 지표 간의 공통점과 차이점을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 2015년 개정 교육과정과 연계할 수 있는 세계시민교육 지표를 제안하였다. 제안된 지표는 우리나라 국가수준 교육과정과 세계시민교육을 위한 교육과정을 조화롭게 재구성한 것으로써 단위학교의 세계시민교육 기본 방향을 제시하고 향후 학자와 교사의 더 깊이 있는 논의와 합의에 초석이 되고자 한다.
