Recently, the global shipping industry is facing a long-term depression due to the changes in the shipping system due to rising freight rates and rising oil prices, as well as the disagreement with the shipping market. However, environmental regulations, which are burdensome for shipping companies, are gradually strengthening. The International Maritime Organization, which presents international guidelines for environmental regulation, is strengthening environmental regulations in the marine and marine sectors, and regulates the marine water quality and marine air pollution that can occur in ships as the environmental convention MARPOL 73/78 . As a countermeasure against these environmental regulations, LNG-fuelled ship is emerging as a new alternative in the shipping market. In the long term, introduction of LNG-fuelled ship is not an alternative but an essential alternative. For economic and environmental reasons, LNG-fuelled ships are attracting attention as eco-friendly vessels, and the operation of -fuelled ships is expected to expand. This study examines the basic statistics of LNG -fuelled ship and the international trend of LNG bunkering and legal system of LNG-fuelled ships in Northern Europe, Western Europe, Asia, Middle East and North America. In this paper, we review the current status of LNG bunker-ship construction and LNG bunker-ship operation in Korea and propose a plan to enhance competitiveness based on this trend.

최근 세계해운업계는 운임하락 및 유가상승에 따른 운영비 증가와 해운시장 수급불일치에 따른 체제변화로 장기적 불황 속에 있지만, 이와 별개로 선사들에게 부담이 되는 환경규제 는 점차 강화되고 있다. 환경규제에 대한 국제적 가이드라인을 제시하는 국제해사기구는 선박 및 해양 분야의 환경규제를 강화하고 있으며, 선박에서 발생할 수 있는 해양 수질, 해양 대기오염 등을 환경협약인 MARPOL 73/78로 규제하고 있다. 이러한 환경규제에 대한 대응방안으로 해운시장에서는 LNG연료추진선이 새로운 대안으 로 떠오르고 있으며, 장기적으로 LNG연료추진선의 도입은 선택적 대안이 아닌 필수적 대안이라고 해운시장에서는 보고 있다. 경제적이고 환경적인 이유로 LNG연료추진선은 친환경선박을 대표하는 선박으로 주목받고 있으며 LNG연료추진선의 운항은 확대될 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구는 LNG연료추진선의 의 기초 통계를 살펴보고, 북유럽･서유럽･아시아･중동･북 미의 LNG연료추진선 법제도 및 LNG벙커링의 국제동향에 대해 알아보았다. 아울어 국내 의 LNG연료추진선 및 LNG벙커링 선박 건조 현황과 LNG벙커링 국내동향에 대해 알아보 고 이를 토대로 경쟁력 제고 방안을 제시하였다.
