As regenerative and preservation treatments have become in the limelight of endodontics recently, the use of dental filling materials developed to maintain teeth function by eliminating infected area of dental pulp and filling alternative materials around tooth root areas has increased. International standards of these dental materials have been revised recently, but some of current Standard Specifications for Medical Devices differ from recent international standards (ISO standards). Accordingly, among product items of dental medical devices, we selected root canal filling pastes and root canal sealers as product items which will undergo revision of Standard Specifications for Medical Devices through expert group’s examination on product items whose recent international standards differ from current domestic Standard Specifications for Medical Devices and require revision due to several reasons such as change in product item name. In order to carry out this study, we prepared revisions of Standard Specifications for Medical Devices (draft) for root canal filling pastes and root canal sealers by investigating and analyzing domestic and overseas trends in the target product items, harmonizing international standards and standard specification for medical devices of each item and providing additional digital testing methods after reflecting the recent trend in measurement method of radio-opacity of dental materials. Since these standard specification for medical devices harmonize with international standards and collect opinions from experts in the areas of industry, academy, research, and administration, it is deemed that the standard specifications for medical devices will be a huge help in developing products and applying for approval and review of the products. In addition, these standard specifications are considered to be helpful for market access by reducing the cost in time and money required for medical device development. Furthermore, they are expected to contribute to enhancing domestic medical devices’ industrial competitiveness and accelerating overseas export.

최근 재생 및 보존 치료가 근관치료학의 화두로 떠오르면서 치수의 감염부위를 제거하고 치근 부분에 대체 재 료를 충전하여 치아의 기능을 유지시키기 위한 치과용 충전재들의 사용이 증가하였다. 이러한 치과재료의 국제표준이 최근 개정되었으나, 현행 의료기기 기준규격은 최신 국제규격(ISO 규격)과 일부 상이한 부분이 있다. 이에 따라 치과 분야 의료기기 품목 중 최신 국제표준과 현행 의료기기 기준규격이 상이한 품목, 품목명의 변경 등의 이류로 개정이 필요한 품목을 전문가 그룹의 검토를 거쳐 연고형근관충전재 및 치과용근관충전실러를 의료기기 기준규격 개정 대상 품목으로 선정하였다. 본 연구를 수행하기 위하여 대상 품목의 국내·외 동향을 조사·분석하고, 각 품목의 기준규격 에 최신 국제표준(ISO)을 반영하였을 뿐만 아니라, 치과재료의 방사선 불투과도 측정방법의 최신 경향을 반영하여 디 지털 시험방법을 추가로 제시하여 본 연구를 통해 연고형근관충전재 및 치과용근관충전실러의 의료기기 기준규격 개 정(안)을 마련하였다. 본 기준규격은 국제 규격과 조화되고, 국내 업체, 시험·심사기관, 학계 등 전문가 의견을 반영 하여 치과재료 업체에서 제품 개발과 허가·심사 신청에 큰 도움이 되리라 판단된다. 또한 의료제품 개발에 있어 시 간적, 경제적 비용을 감소시켜 시장진입을 원활히 할 수 있도록 도와줄 것으로 사료되며, 국내 의료기기 산업 경쟁력 강화 및 해외 수출에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
