This study aims to discuss in depth the child-rearing conflicts and overall coping strategies for Japanese immigrant women who are married based on love. The research participants are five Japanese immigrant wives who are married to Korean men for love, have lived in Korea for 11 years or longer, are currently residing in Seoul or Gyeonggi area, and have at least one child in elementary school or below. Multiple interviews were conducted and analysis was done using KJ method(Kawakita, 1986). In the analysis, the following child-rearing conflicts were shown to be experienced by the Japanese wives: “educational problems”, “interpersonal problems”, “environmental difficulties”, “lack of human resources”, “concerns for temporarily returning to Japan”, “hesitations for cultural identity of their children”, “concerns about negative views from others”, “concerns about their children developing negative views of Japan”, “Korean mothers’ excessive attention on their children”, and “Indecision over military duty for their sons”. On the other hand, they were shown to be coping with child-rearing problems with “active coping”, “passive coping”, “neutral coping”, and “family intervention”, in this order. As discussed above, the Japanese immigrant wives are faced with various conflicts related to child-rearing in Korea, but they are putting efforts to actively cope with such difficult situations. Furthermore, they have shown that even the passive coping not only has negative aspects, but it can also be a form of survival strategy. Even though it was their choice to be married and relocated to Korea, other people’s lack of sympathy, difficulties of educational conditions for their children, and reality barriers were making it more difficult for them to cope actively with their situations.

本研究は、恋愛結婚した日本人移住女性(以下、日本人結婚移住女性)の子育て葛藤とその対処行動の全体像を明らかにすることを目的とする。研究協力者は、2000年以降韓国人男性と結婚し、在韓期間が11年以上で小学校入学前後の子どもを持つソウルと京畿道に住む5名である。調査方法は、2014年10月から2015年9月にかけて一人につき4回の半構造化インタビューを実施した。そこから得られたすべての音声データを文字化し、子育て場面における葛藤とその対処行動について語った内容をそれぞれKJ法(川喜田, 1986)で分析した。 その結果、日本人結婚移住女性の子育て葛藤としては、大きく9つのグループと1つの単独ラベルが抽出された。その詳細を事例内容の多い順に見ていくと、「教育問題」「対人関係上の問題」「環境上の困難」「人的資源の欠如」「一時帰国への悩み」「子どものアイデンティティに関する迷い」「他人の否定的な視線への憂慮」「子どもの日本に対する否定的な認識への懸念」「韓国人母親の子どもへの過剰な関心」「男児の軍隊入隊への迷い」という順である。次に、子育て葛藤への対処行動としては、「積極的対処」「消極的対処」「中間的対処」「家族の介入」の4つのグループが見出された。事例内容の多い順に見ていくと、「積極的対処」は、「努力」「意志表示」「サポート希求」「実利重視の選択」「協力」から成る。「消極的対処」は、「諦め」「表面的同調」「回避」「判断留保」「従順」から成る。「中間的対処」は、「妥協」「子どもへの共感」から構成され、「家族の介入」は「子どもの援助」と「夫の援助」という単独ラベルから構成される。 以上の結果から、日本人の結婚移住女性は子育てにおける葛藤状況に積極的に対処していることが明らかとなった。また、消極的な対処であっても否定的な側面ばかりではなく、現在の生活を生き抜くための一つの戦略になりうることが示唆された。しかし、自らの自由意思で国際結婚し、韓国に移住した場合でも彼女らを取り巻く人々の理解不足と子どもの教育環境および生活の中の障壁が葛藤状況により積極的に対処することを妨げていることが示された。
