Seasonal customs are a valuable entity that can be understood through the conventionand the universality of our culture as the repetitious daily living and uniqueness of thelocal culture. Seasonal customs are a living textbook that teaches us about our ancestors’long natural history, a society that lives is the most correct way, like within an interimagreement. However, seasonal customs have been cut off and have been graduallydisappearing from all around us due to the failure of systematic education. Therefore, inthis study I have developed teaching and learning methods connected with the local culturethrough the incorporation of seasonal customs like Daejeon in order to promote theunderstanding of our culture and in order to preserve local culture. First, I examined thecharacteristics of the seasonal customs of both Korea and Daejeon, targeting the 3rd-4thyear and on selected teaching seasonal customs on the basis of the current musictextbooks. Next, I have presented the reconstructed information with other curriculaseparated by extensive information and basic information. The Seasonal customs chosen are separated into six topics, which are ‘New Year’s Day’,‘Daeboreum’, ‘Samjinnal’, ‘Dano’, ‘July 7th’ and ‘Chuseok’. I have presented teachingcontents specifically through the methods of comprehension, expression and musicappreciation and music actualization in each of the six topics. I presented the basicinformation about ‘New Year’s Day’, ‘Dano’ and ‘Chuseok’ and extensive informationabout ‘Daeboreum’, ‘Samjinnal’ and ‘July 7th’, which are composed of the contentsconnected with the local culture, Daejeon. This study, by organizing the local culture and by raising the right attitude for the local culture, was able to reveal the sense of pride for the region. Therefore, I hope that manypeople will become interested in and will see the events of the seasonal customs of theirregions and that many students will have a positive experience of their own seasonalcustoms. In addition, I look forward to further research for even more effective teachingand learning.

세시풍속은 일상생활에서 관습적으로 되풀이하는 생활로서 우리문화의 보편성과 지역 문화의 특수성을 동시에 이해할 수 있는 귀중한 자료이다. 세시풍속은 우리 조상들이 오랫동안자연, 역사, 사회 속에서 그렇게 사는 것이 가장 올바르다는 잠정적 합의를 우리에게 가르쳐주는 살아있는 교과서이다. 그러나 세시풍속은 단절되거나 퇴색되며 우리 주변에서 점차 사라지고 있으며 교육현장에서는 이를 체계적으로 교육하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는우리 문화를 이해하고 지역 문화를 전승․보존하고자 대전의 세시풍속을 통해 지역문화와연계한 교수․학습 방법을 구안하였다. 먼저, 3~4학년을 대상으로 우리나라의 세시풍속과대전에서 전승되는 세시풍속의 특징을 살펴보고, 현행 음악 교과서를 바탕으로 지도할 세시풍속을 선정한 다음, 다른 교과와 재구성한 내용을 기본 지도 내용과 심화 지도 내용으로제시하였다. 선정된 세시풍속은 ‘설’, ‘정월대보름’, ‘삼짇날’, ‘단오’, ‘칠석’, ‘추석’ 등 6가지이고, 각 주제는 ‘이해 단계－표현 및 감상 단계－생활화 단계’로 나누어 구체적인 지도 내용을 제시하였다. 이 중 ‘설’, ‘단오’, ‘추석’은 기본 내용을 지도하고, ‘정월대보름’, ‘삼짇날’, ‘칠석’은 기본과 심화로 나누어 지도하는데, 심화는 지역문화와의 연계를 통해 지도할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 지역문화와 연계한 세시풍속 교수․학습은 지역문화를 알고, 지역문화에 대한 올바른 태도를 길러 지역에 대한 자긍심을 느낄 수 있게 하였다. 따라서 다른 지역에서도 어떤 세시풍속 행사가 시행되고 있는지 관심을 갖고 학생들이 적극적으로 체험할 수 있도록 지역의 세시풍속을 발굴하고, 효과적인 교수ㆍ학습을 위한 후속 연구를 기대해 본다.
