The purpose of this study is to clarify the significance of utilizing concrete operational materials in music education and to suggest specific plans for such materials based on Jeongganbo, the most representative traditional Korean musical notation system. On a more concrete level, this study explains the essence of musical knowledge and the relationship between the knowledge and the utilization of concrete operational materials. It also examines the ways in which to help maximize the use of the materials by focusing on traditional Korean musical notation. Musical knowledge, an entity that is distinguished from that of other disciplines, is based on ability that combines both cognitive and emotional capacities. The process of acquiring such knowledge coincides with the principles of the concrete operational activities whose aims are to make abstract concepts concrete through the representation of concepts. One excellent example of this representation is none other than Korea's traditional notation Jeongganbo, a combination of vocal and graphic systems. The strength of Jeongganbo as a concrete operational material is that it enables comprehensive utilization of Bruner's three modes of representation and their application in activity areas as well as actualization of the ethos of music education. Making the most of the characteristics of Jeongganbo, this study proposes the direction for and methods of producing concrete operational materials as well as the details of operational activities that utilize Korean traditional notation.

이 연구는 음악교육에서 구체적 조작 자료 활용의 의의를 밝히고, 그 구체적인 활용 방안을 정간보를 통해 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 음악 지식의 본질에 대해 규명하고, 이것이 구체적 조작 자료의 활용과 어떠한 관계에 있으며, 음악교육에서 어떻게 활용될 수 있는지 정간보를 통해 살펴보았다. 음악지식은 인지적인 능력과 정서적인 능력의 복합적인 능력을 토대로 하는, 다른 영역의 지식과 구별되는 독립적인 것으로, 그 지식의 획득 과정이 개념의 표상을 통한 추상적 개념을 구체화 하려는 구체물 조작 활동의 원리와도 부합된다. 특히 정간보는 음성적 체계와 도식적 체계의 복합체로, 브루너의 세 가지 표상양식의 통합적 활용과 활동영역에서의 활용도 가능하게 해준다는 점에서 음악교육의 본질을 구현할 수 있는 구체물 조작 자료로서의 장점을 지니고 있다. 이러한 정간보의 특성을 살려 정간보를 활용한 구체적 조작 자료의 제작 방향과 활용 방법을 제시하였다.
