『Korean Journal of General Education』 is Korea’s only academic journal for general education. The Korean Association of General Education published first issue for the development and continuous research of the general education in 2007. The journal has been selected as a KCI(Korea Citation Index) journal by the National Research Foundation of Korea and has grown to a remarkable level in ten years after its launch. This paper examines the achievements of the past 10 years of the journal, and seeks development direction and checks the challenges. Firstly, it examines the significance of the foundation of the liberal arts education association and the publishing of the journals and analyzes the achievements of the academic paper production. It also classifies 508 papers in a total of 34 published journals by specified areas of the education, and analyzes thematic distribution, and identifies research trends. And then, the present situation of the development of the study method of the education and the achievement of the academic community development are summarized. In addition, it seeks directions and tasks for the journal and examines development tasks such as theorizing for securing the academic status of the liberal arts education, diversification and differentiation of research contents, leading and activating the liberal arts education research. It is time to contribute greatly to the development of the liberal arts education by looking at the past 10 years of achievements positively and accepting the tasks as a calling.

『교양교육연구』는 한국 유일의 교양교육 전문 학술지이다. 한국교양교육학회는 대학 교양교육의 발전과 지속적인 연구를 위해 2007년 『교양교육연구』를 창간했다. 학술지는 한국연구재단 등재지로 선정되는 등 창간 10년만에 괄목할 만한 수준으로 성장하였다. 이 논문은 지난 10년간 『교양교육연구』의 성과를 확인하고 성찰하면서 미래를 위한 발전 방향을 모색하고 과제를 점검한다. 먼저 교양교육 분야 학회의 창립 및 학술지 발간의 의의를 짚어보고 학술논문 생산의 성과를 분석한다. 총 34회 발간된 학술지에 게재된 508편의 논문들을 교양교육의 세부영역별로 분류하여 연구의 주제별 분포를 분석하고 연구 동향을 파악한다. 이어서 교양교육 연구 방법의 개발 현황과 학문공동체 발전의 성과를 정리한다. 아울러 『교양교육연구』가 나아갈 방향과 과제를 모색한다. 교양교육의 학문적 위상 확보를 위한 이론화, 연구 내용의 다양화 및 차별화, 교양교육 연구의 선도화 및 활성화 등의 발전 과제를 시론적으로 검토한다. 교양교육에 대한 인식이 일천한 척박한 토양에서 이룩한 『교양교육연구』 10년의 성과는 따뜻하게 바라보고 발전 과제는 소명으로 받아들이면서 교양교육의 발전에 크게 기여해야 할 때다.
