The act of 'eating' to humans has an important meaning not only in the individual but also in the social dimension. Especially, the Sik(食) through the rite of ceremony can be a good object to understand the human relation of a specific organization through history and culture. This study examines the philosophical meaning of the Sik(食) based on Donghak and Chondokyo. In other words, this study is an attempt to philosophically identify the concept of the Sik(食) in Donghak and Chondokyo, starting from the claim of 'Bob/rice is heaven'. This paper focuses on emphasizing the concept of the Sik(食) as a different meaning from the traditional Confucian ritual, focusing on the religious rituals of the Donghak and the Chondogyo - such as Cheongsoogongyaung(淸水供養), Hyangaseolyee(向我設委), Okwanjeodo(五款制度) etc. In the present paper, we deal with such categories in terms of 'demetaphysicalization', 'demythization,' deenchantment, and then try to understand the meaningthrough the following topics. First, religious rituals of Donghak and Chondogyo created the occasion of de-canonization? calls from ruling ideology. Second, religious ceremonies of Donghak and Chondogyo liberated the concept of the Sik(食) from the tools of power and made it an instrument/opportunity of de-instrumentation. Third, religious rituals of Donghak and Chondogyo created the occasion of diversification in order to dismantle the identification of class domination through the concept of the Sik(食).

인간에게 ‘먹는다’는 행위는 개인에서뿐만 아니라, 사회적 차원에서도 중요한 의미를 지니고 있다. 특히 종교 의례를 매개로 한 식(食) 개념은 역사와 문화를 매개로 특정 조직의 인간관계를 이해하는 데 좋은 대상이 될 수 있다. 본 연구는 동학·천도교를 중심으로 식(食) 개념의 철학적 의미를 고찰한다. 본 연구는 ‘밥이 하늘이다’라는 해월 최시형의 주장으로부터 출발하여, 동학·천도교 안에서 식(食) 개념에 대해 철학적으로 규명해보려는 시도이다. 본 논문은 동학·천도교의 종교의례를 중심으로 - 청수공양법, 향아설위법, 오관제도 등 - 그 식 개념을 기존의 유교적 제사와의 다른 의미로 부각시키는 것에 초점을 맞춘다. 그러한 전제를 바탕으로 필자들은 본 논문에서 ‘탈형이상학’, ‘탈신화화’, ‘탈마법화’ 등의 관점을 통해 다음과 같이 그 구체적 의미를 해명한다. 첫째, 동학·천도교의 종교의례는 지배 이데올로기로부터 탈정전화(脫正典化)의 계기를 만들었다. 둘째, 동학·천도교의 종교의례는 식(食) 개념을 권력의 도구로부터 해방시켜 탈도구화의 계기로 만들었다.
