Nowaday, university education is facing a crisis. On the one hand, universities are given the task of cultivating an educated citizen through search of truth, on the other hand, they are not free from the feeling of pressure to foster the competent workers by increasing employment capacity. The university education focus on fostering employees to raise employment rates in a situation which a pragmatic type of talent with a practical sense have recently become a goal of university education. Until now, policies of university education have been implemented to increase practical abilities. However, it’s necessary to further discuss whether such educational reforms have had a profound impact on the development of student’s pragmatism. In the face of numerous reforms, it’s because the current university education are unable to present an alternative view suitable for the times. The purpose of this article is to find a new prospect of university education that can increase industry-friendly and practical ability through the development and application of appropriate technology programs for Vietnamese society. First of all, we examine the educational crisis faced by current university education, also suggest concrete model of appropriate technology program as an alternative of university education. Second,we introduce the models of the appropriate technology designed and developed by students directly by focusing on the development process, core content, and field application. Finally, we review the impact of such appropriate technology products on the lives of local Vietnamese residents. In sum, this article intends to present the appropriate technology program developed and applied by students as a new possibility of university education that can improve field-friendly or field-based abilities.

오늘날 대학교육은 위기상황에 처해 있다. 한편에서 진리탐구를 통한 교양시민을 육성해야한다는 과제를 부여받으면서 다른 한편에서 취업능력을 키워 유능한 직장인을 양성해야 한다는 압박감에서 자유롭지 않다. 최근 현장감각을 갖춘 실용적 인재상이 더욱 부각되면서 대학교육은 취업률 제고를 위한 직장인 양성에 주력한다. 실용적 능력을 키우기 위한 수많은 대학교육의 개혁들이 시도되었지만, 그런 개혁정책이 학생들의 현장감을 반영한 실용적 능력신장에 어떤 교육적 성과를 미쳤는지에 대해서는 더 많은 논의가 필요할 것이다. 수많은 개혁 속에서도 현행 대학교육은 시대 전망적 대안을 제시하지 못한 채 일정한 좌표를 제시하지 못하고 있다. 이 글은 베트남 사회를 대상으로 한 적정기술 프로그램의 개발과 적용을 통해 현실사회 친화적이면서 실용적 능력을 키울 수 있는 대학교육의 전망을 찾는 데 목적이 있다. 먼저, 현행 대학교육이 당면한 교육적 위기현상을 타진하며, 덧붙여 대학교육의 대안으로서 적정기술 프로그램의 구체적 모형을 제안한다. 둘째, 학생들이 직접 설계하여 개발한 적정기술의 모형을 개발과정과 핵심내용을 중심으로 소개한다. 이는 대학교육의 새로운 전망으로서 중요한 의의를 띠는 것으로 볼 수 있기 때문이다. 마지막으로, 이렇게 개발된 적정기술 제품은 베트남 현지주민의 삶에 미칠 수 있는 영향을 현장차원에서 검토한다. 요컨대, 이 글은 학생들이 직접 개발·적용한 적정기술 프로그램을 현장 친화적 내지 현장 밀착형적 능력을 키울 수 있는 대학교육의 새로운 가능성으로 제시하고자 한다.
