Park Yong-cheol’s poetry “On Poetic Transformation” goes beyond the sentimental and artistic attitude of his poem and poetry. His poetry shows an organic view of poetry as one life. This kind of organic poetry can be regarded as the lineage of life and the wave of the 1940s, the criticism of the caliber life of Kim Dong-ri and Cho Yeon-hyun. But the aspects of his poetry still have their carryover value and must be found in the ecological sense of this poem. This problem set up by Park Yong-cheol, that is, the setting up of the organic problem of life theory based on the concrete physical, is now throwing an important moment of modernity in Korean history. His poetics is different from the claims of the Romanticists. He argues that the poem is not a record of the experience. Poetry is a process of creating a new form of poetic language through any process. He says that this experience is part of the Poet’s body and spirit. This also means that poetry is incarnated into physical necessity. The poet who does not fulfill this process of incarnation and writes poetry is despised as a technician. That is because it creates not only another life but also a fake imitating life. This is a claim that even if the poetry is based on life and does not nurture vitality, even if it is built on a brilliant and complicated technique, it is only a crude sculpture in the end.

본 박용철의 시론 「시적 변용에 대하여」는 종래의 그의 시와 시론이 보여준 감상주의 적, 기교주의적 태도를 탈피하고 시를 하나의 육체 하나의 생명으로 파악하는 유기체적 인 시관을 보여주고 있다. 그의 이 길지 않은 시론이 아직까지 그 이월가치를 가지는 측면은 바로 이 생태론적 의미에서라고 할 수 있다. 그의 시론은 낭만주의자들의 주장처럼 시가 자연스러운 체험의 토로가 아니라 그것이 어떠한 과정을 거쳐 완성된 하나의 구체성, 즉 시적 언어라는 새로운 형상을 만들어 가는 그 순간의 중요성을 강조하는 것이라 할 수 있다. 또한 그는 체험이 시인의 몸을 이루고 정신을 이루는 생명의 일부분이 된다고 한다. 이는 시어가 육체적 필연성으로 육화된다는 의미이기도 하다. 이런 육화 과정을 이루지 못하고 시를 쓰는 시인을 박용철 은 기술사[奇術師]로 폄하하고 있다. 그것은 자신의 육체라는 생명으로 또 다른 생명을 만들어내는 것이 아니라 생명을 모방한 조화만을 만들어내기 때문이다. 이 말은 시가 생명에 근거하고 생명력을 키우는 것이 아니라면 아무리 화려하고 복잡한 기술 위에 만들어지는 것이라고 해도 결국은 조잡한 조형물에 불과하다는 주장이기도 하다. 박용철이 우리에게 던져준 이와 같은 문제 설정, 즉 육체적 구체성에 근거한 생명 시론의 유기체적 문제 설정은 지금의 한국 시단에 여전히 중요한 문제인 현대성의 한 측면을 던져주고 있다고 할 수 있다.
